The invention relates to a sealant, comprising a polymer with siloxane units and two or more silicon bonded hydroxyl groups or hydrolysable groups per molecule and at least one fatty acid methyl ester. The invention also relates to a method for producing a sealant, in which a polymer with siloxane units and two or more silicon-bonded hydroxyl groups or hydrolysable groups per molecule is blended with at least one fatty acid methyl ester acting as a plasticiser, prior to the dispersal of the remaining constituents of the blend, and in addition to the use of a sealant for sealing a gap between two components, involving the application and curing of the sealant.

The invention relates to a jointing compound of an acrylate/acrylonitrile copolymer containing 2 to 8 carbon atoms in the alcohol component as binder and fatty compounds as plasticizer and also fillers and auxiliaries. Epoxy-- stearic acid methyl ester in particular may be used as the fatty compound while a butyl acrylate/acrylonitrile copolymer in particular may be used as the acrylate/acrylonitrile copolymer. The combination of the two substances results in jointing compounds characterized by a dramatic improvement in elasticity (resilience). Accordingly, they are particularly suitable for substrates with different coefficients of thermal expansion.
