Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an iontophoresis device structure with which biological components can be detected speedily and sensitively and a method for detecting the biological components. SOLUTION: This structure has a backing 1 with a cylindrical dent, and an electrode 2 perforated in a round shape is mounted on the bottom of the backing 1. An electroconductive layer 3 is formed in the dent of the backing 1, and a connecting terminal 4 is attached to the electrode 2 through a small hole formed at the center of the backing 1 so that it can be connected to a power source. And a detecting member 6 structured to adsorb biological components is attached to the iontophoresis device structured as mentioned above. The detecting member 6 is previously adhered to an adhesive sheet 5 with an opening formed in the corresponding position. When the iontophoresis is started, the detecting member 6 is brought into contact with the skin or the mucous membrane of a patient.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce electric stimuli to the skin and a mucous membrance, to make a stabilized current flow for a long period and to efficiently transmit medication to a living body by providing two conductors provided with an electrode part electrically connected to the switching means of a power unit and the electrode part for reproduction and the conductor provided with the electrode part. SOLUTION: At the time of medication administration, the electrode part of a reference side conductor 2 and the donor electrode part 3a of a donor side conductor 3 are energized. Then, switching parts 4d and 4e are switched by the control signals of a control part 4a, and by the depolarization pulse output means of a current pulse output means 4b for treatments and a current output means 4c for reproduction, at the time of depolarization, a donor electrode part 3a is connected to a negative pole, an electrode part 3b for the reproduction is connected to a positive pole and the donor electrode part 3a is reproduced. Also, the donor electrode part 3a and the reference electrode part of the reference side conductor 2 are depolarized by short-circuit. Thus, electrode reproduction is simultaneously performed at the time of the depolarization.

SOLUTION: This device structure 100 for iontophoresis has an electrode 101 and a conductive layer 102. An effective component D and a basic water swellable methacrylic acid copolymer P1 and/or acidic water swellable methacrylic acid copolymer P2 are incorporated into the conductive layer 102. The electrode 101 and the conductive layer 102 are arranged within a recessed part of a backing 103 and an electrode terminal 104 is connected through the backing 103 to the electrode 101. The peripheral edge of the backing 103 is provided with a tacky adhesive layer 105 and a liner 106 removed at the time of device use is so arranged as to cover the recessed part of the backing 103.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to dose sufficient drugs to the skin and mucous membrane even if these drugs are large in required dosage or are low in the absorption from the skin and the mucous membranes by making combination use of electroporation and pulse depolarization type iontophoresis for the skin or the mucous membranes. SOLUTION: A high voltage is first impressed by applying the first time of the electroporation A1 before the application of the iontophoresis. In succession thereto, the iontophoresis operation by the pulse depolarization type energization is applied for a prescribed period and thereafter, the high voltage by the second time of the electroporation A2 is impressed. These operations are successively repeated at need, by which the dosage is executed. The iontophoresis by the pulse depolarization type energization is used in combination, by which the drugs are extremely effectively transmitted from the holes formed by applying the electroporation.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent dissolved ion of a non-polarizing electrode from interfering with chemical transfer or chemical absorption by the human body to increase the transport number of chemical and the absorption efficiency of chemical to skin and mucosa by providing a purified water layer between a non-polarizing electrode and an ion exchanging layer. SOLUTION: This iontophoresis electrode 1 is provided with a purified water layer 3 which has purified water between a non-polarizing electrode 2 and an ion exchanging layer 4. The non-polarizing electrode 2 applies voltage to a chemical holding layer 5 to supply electric current, and polarization does not occur in the non-polarizing electrode 2 to prevent voltage drop as little as possible. The purified water layer 3 diffuses ion dissolved from the non- polarizing electrode 2, and is provided with purified water or a purified water holding member containing purified water. The ion exchanging layer 4 isolates ion, which is contained in the purified water layer 3 and dissolved from the non-polarizing electrode 2, from the chemical holding layer 5, and prevent a drop in chemical transport number.

Abstract: An iontophoresis device which is capable of reducing variations in drug delivery caused by the individual difference in the impedances of the skin or mucous membrane and inhibiting a decrease in drug delivery at a different electrode and is excellent in pharmacological effects, safety, reliability, and mass-producibility. The device comprises a different electrode, an indifferent electrode, a current detection section for determining an active current value as a difference between the value of an applied current flowing between the different and indifferent electrodes when pulse voltage/current are applied and the value of a discharge current flowing when the electric charge accumulated in the living organism is discharged as a result of short-circuiting in the different and indifferent electrodes occurring when the application of pulse voltage/current is suspended, and a feedback control section for controlling the active current value by making pulse voltage/current amplitudes variable. The method of current control for the device comprises the step of determining the active current value and the feedback control step for controlling the active current value.
