Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a microemulsion preparation synergistically raised in medicinal delivery effect. SOLUTION: This micremulsion preparation is intended to increase medicinal absorption vivo through its administration to electroporation-applied site(s). The microemulsion comprises an aqueous phase (e.g. water, buffer solution), oily phase (e.g. soybean oil, fatty acid triglyceride), surfactant (e.g. polyoxyethylene hydrogenated castor oil) and a medicinal agent. The particle size for the microemulsion is such that >=90% of the total particles falls within the range from 0.1 to 100nm in size. This microemulsion preparation stands integrated with electrodes for elecroporation. Electroporation develops fine holes serving as transmission route in the skin of mucous membrane, through which the medicinal agent encapsulated in the readily absorbable microemulsion fine particles are absorbed; thus yielding higher medicinal virtues.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to dose sufficient drugs to the skin and mucous membrane even if these drugs are large in required dosage or are low in the absorption from the skin and the mucous membranes by making combination use of electroporation and pulse depolarization type iontophoresis for the skin or the mucous membranes. SOLUTION: A high voltage is first impressed by applying the first time of the electroporation A1 before the application of the iontophoresis. In succession thereto, the iontophoresis operation by the pulse depolarization type energization is applied for a prescribed period and thereafter, the high voltage by the second time of the electroporation A2 is impressed. These operations are successively repeated at need, by which the dosage is executed. The iontophoresis by the pulse depolarization type energization is used in combination, by which the drugs are extremely effectively transmitted from the holes formed by applying the electroporation.
