Abstract: The novel urethanes correspond to the formula I below in which a denotes a number from 5 to 17 and b denotes a number from 1 to 7. These urethanes are prepared by reaction of the corresponding perfluoroalkylethanol-epichlorohydrin adducts with toluylene diisocyanates. The novel aqueous dispersions consist essentially of the novel urethanes, cationic or betainic and non-ionic emulsifiers, water-insoluble carboxylic acid and/or dicarboxylic acid esters and alkanediols or polyalkanediols, which can be mono- or dietherified, in water. The novel urethanes and the novel aqueous dispersions are used for the oleophobic and hydrophobic finishing of textiles, leather and unvarnished wood, for example unvarnished furniture.

The novel urethanes and the novel aqueous dispersions are used to impart an oleophobic and hydrophobic finish to textiles, leather and furs. They are also suitable for the treatment of unpainted timber, for example unpainted furniture.

Abstract: In the process, a mixture of 99 to 5 mol % of at least one alkanol ethoxylate and 1 to 95 mol % of at least one carboxamide ethoxylate are reacted in the liquid state at 20 to 120 DEG C with 0.95 to 1 mol of chlorosulphonic acid or sulphur trioxide per 1 mol of -CH2CH2OH groups contained in the ethoxylates, and the reaction product is subsequently neutralised with an aqueous solution or suspension of an alkali metal, alkaline earth metal or ammonium hydroxide. This results in surfactant mixtures which are dissolved in water, contain ether sulphate and have a low content of 1,4-dioxane and which can be employed either directly or after low-cost removal of the small amounts of residual 1,4-dioxane as body care agents, dishwashing agents or detergents.

Abstract: A process is described for the preparation of acyloxybenzenesulphonates which are optionally substituted on the benzene ring. Liquid acyloxybenzene which is optionally substituted on the benzene ring is brought into contact with a gas mixture containing 1 to 7% by volume of SO3 at 20 to 200 DEG C. When 1 mol of the acyloxybenzene which is optionally substituted on the benzene ring has taken up 0.9 to 1.3 mol of SO3, SO3-feeding is stopped, the liquid is held at a temperature of 20 to 70 DEG C for 5 to 180 minutes and then neutralised. In this manner, acyloxybenzenesulphonates which is optionally substituted on the benzene ring can be prepared in good quality and good yield without solvents and without it being necessary to remove troublesome reaction products.

Abstract: Fiber conditioning agent containing a reaction product of polyphosphoric acid and an oxalkylate of C8-18 alkyl- or alkenylcarboxylic acids with 1 to 22 ethylene oxide units and having a content of free polyethylene glycol of less than 2% by weight, the reaction product being present in acidic form or in the form of its alkali metal salts.
