Abstract: The urethanes described are synthesized from aliphatic fluoro alcohols, triisocyanate and a carboxylic acid. They are prepared by reaction of the aliphatic fluoro alcohol with the triisocyanate to give the fluoro alcohol/triisocyanate adduct and by reaction of this adduct with the carboxylic acid. The new urethanes are preferably used for the finishing of textiles for the purpose of achieving water, oil and soil repellency.

Abstract: The pearl lustre dispersions essentially consist of a fatty acid glycol ester as component conferring a pearl lustre, of two particular surfactant compounds, namely a betaine or anionic surfactant and a fatty alcohol alkoxylate, and of glycerol in a particular amount in each case and optionally water. The pearl lustre dispersions which also contain water do not require their own preservative and are free-flowing and thus easily handled. They have a pronounced pearl lustre and can easily be incorporated into the surfactant compositions, whereby the latter acquire the desired pearl lustre.

Abstract: Zn is sped. from aq. chloride solns. contg. Zn and Cd ions by extn. at pH 1-6 in presence of 0.3-4.0 mol/dm3 of an alkali(ne earth) or ammonium chloride, with cpds. of formula R1-PO(R3)-OR2 (where R1 and R2 = aryl, esp. phenyl, or 1-18C (pref. 4-12C) alkyl; R3=aryl, or alkyl- or alkoxy with 1-18C, pref. 4-12C; the residues together contain >9C, pref. 12-25C) or with solns. of these cpds. in water-immiscible solvents. Typical are methylphosphonic acid dibutyl ester, ethylphosphonic acid diisobutyl ester, n-hexanephosphonic acid dipropyl ester, and methylhexylphosphinic acid isobutyl ester. Useful for extg. Zn from dil. lyes obtd. from ores contg. Zn and Cd.

Abstract: A surfactant composition which consists of 70% by weight of water and 30 to 85% by weight of an anionic surfactant and a particular cationic surfactant in the molar ratio 1:(0.3 to 10) is described. The surfactant compositions are in the form of a clear and easily handled liquid. A method to produce these surfactant compositions is also described, and essentially comprises mixing together the three components of water, anionic surfactant and cationic surfactant with the formation of two phases, and separating the upper required surfactant phase from the lower salt phase. The surfactant composition has wide utility because of its advantageous properties.

Abstract: 1500825 Demulsifying crude oil emulsions HOECHST AG 24 Sept 1975 [26 Sept 1974] 39095/75 Heading C5E [Also in Division C3] A process for the separation of water from crude oil emulsions comprises adding to the stationary or flowing emulsion from 2 to 100 p.p.m. of a demulsifying agent which is a condensation product that has been prepared by (a) preparing an addition product of an aliphatic aldehyde, preferably formaldehyde, and phenol in a molar ratio of from 1:1 to 3:1 at a temperature of from 50‹ to 80‹ C. in the presence of an alkaline catalyst; (b) preparing a block copolymer from a polypropylene glycol having a molecular weight from 1500 to 2500 by the addition of from 30 to 50% by weight of ethylene oxide in the presence of an alkaline catalyst; and (c) condensing from 0À5 to 4 moles of addition product (a) with 1 mole of block copolymer (b), after neutralization, with an acid, if necessary in the presence of an inert solvent at from 80‹ to 150‹ C., and simultaneously removing the water formed. The demulsifying agent used may be dissolved in water and/or an organic solvent.
