Abstract: Dispersions of pigments, disperse- or vat-dyestuffs, wherein the dispersing agent is formed either by co-condensation of a phenolic component, formaldehyde and an alkali metal sulfite or of a sulfonated phenolic component and formaldehyde. These dispersions are characterized in that the dispersing agent used shows an improved dispersing effect. Furthermore, they can also be used when being neutralized for the dispersing alkali sensitive dyestuffs and they show no tendency to soil the fabrics so that also clean shades may be dyed.

Abstract: A dye and pigment dispersion containing a sulfuric acid semi-ester of the formula IN WHICH X is ethylene or propylene, R1 alkyl of 4 to 14 carbon atoms, R2 hydrogen or alkyl of 4 to 14 carbon atoms, n an integer of 2 to 25, z zero or an integer of 1 to 8 and Me hydrogen, alkali, alkaline earth metal, an ammonium ion or a radical of an organic base, and a process for preparing it by grinding the dye or pigment in the presence of an aqueous solution of said sulfuric acid semi-ester. The dispersing agents obtained have a good dispersing effect and tinctorial strength and give a neutral reaction in contrast to most of the known anionic dispersing agents.

Abstract: A dispersion of a disperse dyestuff which contains, as the dispersing agent, a sulfosuccinic acid semi-ester of the formula A-(X - 0)n-CO-B (1) wherein B is A is an alkylphenoxy of the formula OR A GROUP OF THE FORMULA X is ethylene or propylene, R1 is saturated alkyl having from four to 14 carbon atoms, R2 and R3 each are hydrogen or saturated alkyl having from six to 14 carbon atoms, R4 is a saturated alkyl of six to 14 carbon atoms, R4 is a saturated alkyl of 64 to 14 carbon atoms, n is an integer from 2 to 25, z is an integer from 1 to 9 and Me is hydrogen, alkali metal or an alkaline earth metal ion. These dispersing agents show a distinctly improved dispersing effect and effect a higher tinctorial strength so that smaller amounts of the dispersing agent are necessary as compared with other dispersing agents known hitherto.
