Abstract: New lipopolysaccharides comprise chains of O-specific sugars, nuclear polysaccharide and lipid A with a relative fatty acid content of: 8-13 (9-11)% dodecanoic acid, 31-39 (33-37)% 2-hydroxydodecanoic acid, 22-29 (23-27)% 3-hydroxydecanoic acid, 23-27 (24-26)% 3-hydroxydodecanoic acid and 0-7(4-6)% other fatty acids. Antiviral agent useful in small doses, e.g. 1/100 of that of interferon, for prophylaxis against e.g. Influenza A0, A2 or B/Lee, Encephalomyocarditis, Vesicular stomatitis, Herpes Simplex 1 viruses etc., and also for therapy (less active). Doses are e.g. 10-100 mcg/kg in nasal sprays or for injection etc.
