Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a 2,7-dibromo-4,5,9,10- tetrahydropyrene derivative which is an intermediate for producing a poly(4,5,9,10-tetrahydropyrene-2,7-diyl) derivative useful for the electroluminescence material. SOLUTION: The method for producing a 2, 7-dibromo-4,5,9,10- tetrahydropyrene derivative comprises reacting a 4,5,9,10-tetrahydropyrene derivative with bromine in an inert organic solvent in the presence of a group VIII metal in the periodic table on an activated carbon as a carrier material.
