    Abstract: For the preparation of crystalline sodium silicates having a sheet structure and an SiO2/Na2O molar ratio of 1.9 : 1 to 3.5 : 1 from waterglass solutions having a solids content of 20 to 65% by weight, the waterglass solutions are first treated in a spray-drying zone. This gives a pulverulent amorphous sodium silicate having a maximum ignition loss of 20% by weight, while the waste gas leaving the spray-drying zone is at a temperature of at least 140.degree.C. Thereafter, the spray-dried sodium silicate is heated in an ignition zone containing an agitated solid bed at temperatures of 500 to 800.degree.C for 1 to 60 minutes in the presence of at least 10% by weight of recycled material. This recycled material was obtained by mechanical comminution of crystalline sodium silicate discharged from the ignition zone.

For the preparation of detergents or cleaners, a mixture of surfactants and builders, which may also contain fillers, bleaching agents, bleach activators and enzymes, is made into a paste with water, mixed with an X-ray crystalline sheet sodium silicate having an SiO2/Na2O molar ratio of 1.9:1 to 3.5:1, mixed thoroughly and then spray-dried.

    Abstract: of the disclosure: HOE 84/F 257 A process for the production of shaped articles from silicate material by extrusion and/or pelleting and subsequent annealing is described. In this process, pulverulent layered silicic acids of the general formula HZSiyOZy+1, in which y is a number from 1.7 to 24, or salts thereof, in which all or some of the H is replaced by at least one cation from the group comprising Li+, Na+, K+, NH4+, Ca2+, Cu2+, Co2+, Ni2+ and Mg2+, are mixed with water or an organic solvent, the mixture is extruded and/or pelleted to give roll-shaped or tube-shaped pieces and these are then dried and annealed under conditions such that the starting material is chiefly converted into cristobalite and/or tridymite. The same material can also be pressed in a molding tool under pressure. Under these conditions, shaped articles which predominantly consist of cristobalite or tridymite and have a Shore hardness of at least 70 can be obtained.

    Abstract: Process for the preparation of pentafluoroethane (R 125) The invention relates to a process for the preparation of pentafluoroethane (R 125) from 1,1-dichloro-2,2,2- trifluoroethane (R 123) and hydrogen fluoride in the gas phase, which comprises using a chromium- and magnesium- containing catalyst which is obtainable by precipitating chromium(III) hydroxide by reacting 1 mol of a water- soluble chromium(III) salt with at least 1.5 mol of magnesium hydroxide or magnesium oxide in the presence of water, converting the reaction mixture into a paste containing chromium hydroxide and a magnesium salt, and then drying the paste and treating the residue with hydrogen fluoride at temperatures of from 20 to 500.degree.C.
