    Abstract: In order to prepare crystalline sodium silicates having a layered structure of the formula Na2SixO2x + 1, in which x is between 2 and 3, first sand and sodium carbonate are melted in an SiO2/Na2O molar ratio of 2 to 3.5 at temperatures of 1200 to 1400 DEG C. The sodium silicate pieces formed on cooling of the melt are ground to particle sizes of less than 2 mm before being treated in an elongate reaction zone at temperatures of 600 to 800 DEG C for 10 to 120 minutes with mechanical recirculation. Finally, the material leaving the reaction zone is ground to a particle fineness of less than 1 mm.

    Abstract: A continuous process for the simultaneous preparation of acetic acid and acetic anhydride from a starting mixture of methanol and methyl acetate and, if appropriate, dimethyl ether, by reaction with carbon monoxide under anhydrous conditions at temperatures from 150 to 250 DEG C and under increased pressure in a reaction zone using a dissolved catalyst system containing a nickel compound, methyl iodide as promoter, at least one co-promoter such as alkali metal iodide, quaternary phosphonium iodide or quaternary ammonium iodide, and a cocatalyst, is characterised in that the cocatalyst used is a rhodium or iridium compound in a molar ratio of nickel : cocatalyst of 1 : (0.005 to 0.1), a nickel concentration of 0.01 to 0.1, preferably 0.015 to 0.06 mol/l is established in the reaction zone, and is carried out under an increased pressure of 30 to 100 bar.

    Abstract: The invention relates to the decontamination of wet-processed phosphoric acid with the use of organic solvents in a plurality of extraction zones, of which each is comprised of a mixing zone and a separating zone, the solvent being immiscible or partially miscible with water. Resulting organic phase and the aqueous phase are contacted countercurrently with respect to one another, the organic solvent phase being dispersed in the aqueous phase. To this end, the invention provides for the aqueous phase to be admitted to the mixing zone at the onset of the extraction, and for organic phase and aqueous phase to be continuously admitted in a volume ratio of at least 2.5:1 to the respective extracting zones in an overall quantity sufficient to provide, in the mixing zones of the extraction zones, a volume ratio of organic phase to aqueous phase of at most 1:1, which is maintained therein.

    Abstract: PROCESS FOR DEFLUORINATING ALKALI METAL PHOSPHATE SOLUTIONS The disclosure relates to a process for defluorinating alkali metal phosphate solutions. To this end, the disclosure provides for an alkali metal phosphate solution neutralized to a pH-value of more than 6 and pre-purified to be stirred at 60 to 120.degree.C into an alkaline earth metal compound. Alkaline earth metal compounds with a solubility in water of less than 5 g/l are used in the form of particles of which more than 50 % have a size of less than 8 .mu.m. After a reaction period of 0.5 to 4 hours, the precipitate obtained is separated from the purified alkali metal phosphate solution.
