Abstract: The description relates to amidopropyl-N-alkyl-polyhydroxy alkyl amines of formula (1) in which Z is a linear polyhydroxy hydrocarbon radical with at least 2 possibly oxalkylated hydroxyl groups, R is a C1 to C4 alkyl radical or C2 to C4 hydroxyalkyl radical and COR is an aliphatic acyl radical with 6 to 22 carbon atoms, and to their salts obtained with an inorganic or organic acid. They are produced by: (a) reacting a compound of formula (2) with acrylonitrile to a compound of formula (3), (b) hydrogenating the product obtained in step (a) to a compound of the formula (4) and (c) monoacylating the product obtained in step (b) in the molten state to the compound of said formula (1). The compounds of the invention are easily soluble in water and water-alcohol mixtures and are advantageous co-tensides for use in washing and cleaning products and in cosmetic preparations for cleaning hair and skin.

Abstract: Amidopropyl-N-alkyl-polyhydroxyalkylamines of the following formula (1) in which Z is a linear polyhydroxyhydrocarbon radical having at least 2 free or oxyalkylated hydroxyl groups, R1 is a C1 to C7-alkyl radical or C2 to C4-hydroxyalkyl radical and COR is an aliphatic acyl radical having 6 to 22 carbon atoms, and salts thereof from an inorganic or organic acid are described. They are prepared by a) reaction of a compound of the formula (2) with acrylonitrile to give the compound of the formula (3) b) hydrogenation of the product obtained in step a) to give the compound of the formula (4) and c) monoacylation of the product obtained in step b) in the melt to give the compound of the formula (1) mentioned. The compounds according to the invention are readily soluble in water and water/alcohol mixtures and are advantageous co-surfactants for use in detergents and cleaning compositions and in cosmetic preparations for cleansing the hair and skin.

Abstract: The claimed polyhydroxy amide sulphosuccinates have formula (1), where R is an alkyl group, R CO is an acyl group, y is a number between 3 and 9 and Z(OX)y is a polyhydroxy hydrocarbon group partially esterified with maleic acid or maleic acid anhydride and subsequently sulphited, and X is hydrogen or a sulphosuccinate group. The claimed sulphosuccinates and in particular mixtures thereof with fatty alcohol alkoxylate-sulphosuccinates have among other things very good foaming qualities, very good skin compatability and an unexpectedly high capacity for thickening in combination with standard ether sulphates and alkali metal salts such as sodium chloride.

Abstract: Fatty acid-modified polysters composed of polyalkylene oxide and dimerized fatty acids, of the formula in which R is C8-C22-alkyl or C8-C22-alkenyl, preferably C12-C18-alkyl, R1 is the alkyl skeleton of a dimerized fatty acid having 22 to 42, preferably 34 carbon atoms, A is -C2H4- or -C3H6-, n is a number from 1 to 5, preferably 1 to 3, and x is a number from 20 to 150, preferably 23 to 140. These are prepared by simultaneous reaction of the underlying dimerized fatty acid, polyalkylene oxide and fatty acid. The polyesters obtained are used as agents for increasing the viscosity of surfactant-containing cosmetic, pharmaceutical and industrial products.
