Abstract:
2-Perfluoroalkyl ethanols are obtained by reacting 2-perfluoroalkyl ethyliodides with at least the two-fold molar amount of nitric acid of about 70 to 98 percent strength and hydrogenating the intermediates, which are the nitrates of the desired ethanols. The products are useful as starting materials for the production of hydrophobic and oleophobic textile finishing agents, e.g. the polymer acrylates and methacrylates of said 2perfluoroalkyl-ethanols.
Abstract:
Stable and homogeneous aqueous formulations of surfactants with an HLB of less than or equal to 13, which additionally contain a compound of the formula I in which R is C1-C8-alkyl, C1-C8-alkenyl, phenyl, alkylphenyl or phenalkyl with, in each case, 1 to 4 C atoms in the alkyl chain or cyclohexyl, R is hydrogen, or one of the radicals mentioned for R or R and R together with the N atom denote a heterocyclic radical, M is an alkali metal or ammonium cation or an equivalent of an alkaline earth or aluminium cation, and m and n are each, independently of one another, numbers from 6 to 8. The presence of the compounds of the formula I makes it possible to prepare stable and homogeneous aqueous formulations even of those surfactants which are otherwise only sparingly soluble or even insoluble in water.

Abstract:
Stable and homogeneous aqueous formulations of surfactants stable and homogeneous aqueous formulations of surfact- ants having an HLB value of less than or equal to 13, which additionally contain a compound of the formula I in which R1 is C1-C8-alkyl, C1-C8-alkenyl, phenyl, alkyl- phenyl or phenalkyl having in each case 1 to 4 carbon atoms in the alkyl chain or cyclohexyl, R2 is hydrogen or one of the radicals mentioned for R1, or R1 and R2, together with the nitrogen atom, are a heterocyclic radical, M is an alkali metal cation, an ammonium cation or one equivalent of an alkaline earth metal or aluminium cation and m and n in each case independently of one another are numbers from 6 to 8. By the presence of the compounds of the formula I, it is possible to prepare stable and homogeneous aqueous formulations even from those surfactants which are otherwise only sparingly soluble or not soluble at all in water.
Abstract:
The new compounds consist essentially of ethylene oxide/propylene oxide block polymer units and oxyalkyleneated alkylphenol/aldehyde resin units, which are linked by methylene groups. They are prepared by reacting a block polymer of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide and an oxyalkyleneated alkylphenol/aldehyde resin with formaldehyde. The new compounds constitute especially advantageous breaking agents for petroleum.

Abstract:
The claimed polyhydroxy amide sulphosuccinates have formula (1), where R is an alkyl group, R CO is an acyl group, y is a number between 3 and 9 and Z(OX)y is a polyhydroxy hydrocarbon group partially esterified with maleic acid or maleic acid anhydride and subsequently sulphited, and X is hydrogen or a sulphosuccinate group. The claimed sulphosuccinates and in particular mixtures thereof with fatty alcohol alkoxylate-sulphosuccinates have among other things very good foaming qualities, very good skin compatability and an unexpectedly high capacity for thickening in combination with standard ether sulphates and alkali metal salts such as sodium chloride.
Abstract:
Mixed alkoxylation prods. with narrow alkoxy distribution have formula (I): R((CH2CH2O)x-(CH(CH3)CH2O)y-H)m. R = residue of an organic cpd. with at least one active H; m = from 1 to the number of active H in the organic cpd.; and x, y = 2-10 and are the mols. of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide units. The degree of alkoxylation of the mixt. is not above 18 wt.%.
