Abstract: Hollow inorganic microspheres with an average size of 0.5-1000 mu m and having a shell of fused and at least partially crystallised material and an average value of 0.3-1 for the Exner shape factor fe = 4A/ pi Dmax in which A = the projected area of the external surface of a particle and Dmax = the maximum diameter of the particles, as a measure of the deviation from circular of the particle. Also claimed are a process for producing the particles and uses for the products.
