Abstract:
A photocatalyst is carried on a surface of a light guiding body for guiding light needed to activate the photocatalyst in such a manner that the light guided by the light guiding body irradiates directly from the surface of the light guiding body the photocatalyst.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass blank in which, even when a thick portion is provided at a center, a portion other than the thick portion is thinned, and a crack is prevented from occurring after press. SOLUTION: The glass blank 1 includes the disk-shaped thick portion 10, and the ring-shaped thin portion 20 which is provided, surrounding a periphery of the thick portion 10 and includes a smaller thickness than that of the thick portion 10. The thick portion 10 is convex with respect to at least one surface of the thin portion 20. On a surface on which the thin portion 20 and the thick portion 10 are formed so that a step is formed, a sloped surface extended from a flat surface portion 22 of the thin portion 20 to a topmost portion 12 of the thick portion 10 includes a curved surface 14. The curved surface and the flat surface portion 22 form a continuous surface. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for molded article of glass where an improved direct press method, in which press molding is performed with a press mold after glass gob is formed with a gob metallic mold, is employed, where the press molding is performed without reheating the glass gob formed from molten glass, and where the molded article of glass can be manufactured at high productivity, to provide a manufacturing apparatus for molded article of glass, which is a suitable apparatus for performing this method, and in addition to provide a manufacturing method for optical parts manufactured from the molded articles of glass, e.g. lens blanks, obtained by this method. SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method for molded article of glass, the glass gob formed from molten glass is soaked and then is press formed. The formation and soaking of the glass gob is performed on the gob receiving part of a gob mold, satisfying the condition (1) C1-C2>C3 (wherein C1 is a heat quantity which molten glass fed into the gob receiving part of the gob mold retains, C2 is the necessary minimum heat quantity for press molding the gob, and C3 is the total quantity of heat removed from the glass during the formation and soaking), or satisfying the condition that the heat capacity of the gob receiving part is less than that of the glass gob and the part is substantially insulated. In the manufacturing method for optical parts, the parts are manufactured by applying a grinding and polishing process to the molded article of glass manufactured by the above method. The manufacturing apparatus for the molded article of glass is disclosed.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for producing a glass plate, enabling to produce the glass plate little in curvature. SOLUTION: This device for producing a glass plate is provided with a shaping form 2 for shaping molten glass 3 into a plate-like shape and with pulling rollers 6 for pulling out the cooled glass plate 3', wherein the form 2 and the pulling rollers 6 are arranged at a space therebetween the in the vertical direction. Therein, a plurality of bulkheads 7 for separating the oven room 6 in the vertical direction are arranged, and a room temperature controller for controlling the temperature of the room is disposed for each separated room to control an average cooling speed between the glass transition point of the glass and its strain point to 1.2 deg.C/sec.
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent deformation and uneven wall thickness from occurring by arranging shielding plates adjacently to a glass plate in an apparatus for pulling out the glass plate downward in the vertical direction, protecting the glass plate from convection and suppressing nonuniform cooling. CONSTITUTION:The above-mentioned apparatus for producing a glass plate is formed from a forming unit 2 for forming molten glass 3 into the shape of a plate, tension rollers 6 for drawing platy glass 3', shielding plates 7, etc. The aforementioned shielding plates 7 are made of a metal or refractory and arranged parallel and adjacently to the glass plate 3' from both sides thereof under the above-mentioned forming unit 2. The aforementioned forming unit 2 and tension rollers 6 are arranged in the vertical directions at an interval.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass blank with which cracking is suppressed during pressing and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The glass blank 1 has a thin part 10 having a disk-like shape and a thick part 12 provided along the peripheral edge part of the thin part 10. When the glass blank is processed into a substrate for an information recording medium, the thick part 12 is removed. The method for producing the glass blank is a method for producing the glass blank 1. The substrate for an information recording medium is produced by using the glass blank 1 or the glass blank 1 produced by the method for producing the glass blank. Further, in the method for producing the information recording medium, a substrate produced by a method for producing a substrate for an information recording medium is used.
