Abstract:
A computer system, program product and method utilize an input region defined for a hypertext link that is capable of receiving user input for the hypertext link outside of a display region thereof to perform a predetermined operation with the hypertext link. At least a portion of the input region is disposed outside of the display region of the hypertext link, thereby expanding the hot spot. As a result, when a user performs a specific action while a pointer is disposed within the input region of the hypertext link, the predetermined operation (e.g., activating the hypertext link) is performed. In addition, conflicts between multiple user interface controls (e.g., hypertext links) disposed proximate one another may be resolved by defining a secondary operation for a second user interface control that may be activated in response to user input that occurs when a pointer is disposed within an input region defined for a first user interface control.
Abstract:
An apparatus, program product, and method utilize a multi-target link to selectively access data located at one or more of a plurality of storage locations associated with the link. Thus, when a user (33) activates a particular multi-target link, a request may be forwarded to different storage locations in different circumstances to optimize utilization of the link, rather than the request being forwarded to the same single storage location as occurs with conventional hypertext links and bookmarks. A multi-target link may be implemented as a hypertext link defined by a hypertext link definition embedded in a hypertext document, or as a bookmark (42) for use in a custom bookmark list for a user. Moreover, various types of data, including hypertext documents, files, and the like, may be accessed from one or more of the storage locations for a multi-target link.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone equipped with a position detector for detecting geographical position of the portable telephone and a telephone system by which one or more land-based telephones or portable telephones can be called according to the geographical position. SOLUTION: One or more zones are defined, and a corresponding telephone parameter is defined for each zone. When a portable telephone enters or leaves a defined zone, or moves between two defined zones, functions of one or more land-based telephones or portable telephones can be changed. In a preferred embodiment, functions of one or more other telephones can be changed based on a geographical position of the portable telephone self-detected as described above. Thus, convenience of a portable telephone is improved significantly.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly and efficiently find out and select a hyper text link embedded in a web page by connecting a memory to one processor and providing a link selecting mechanism inside the memory. SOLUTION: In a system 100, one processor 110 is provided, a memory 120 is connected to the processor 110, and the memory 120 is provided with a web browser 122, an operating system 124 and a link selecting mechanism 126. The link selecting mechanism 126 enables a user to scroll the web page containing various links, operates a slider range mechanism and determines whether any arbitrary link can be found out within a slider range of not. When this link is found out, this link is designated as a current link and the color of a slider on a scroll bar is updated so as to be coincident with the color of the current link by an emphasized display mechanism.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device, a program product and a method to control access to a document linked on a computer. SOLUTION: Reliability of the linked document is confirmed by calculation and user navigation from a document with which a distrusted document is linked to a distrusted document is suppressed. An owner, an author, a developer and a publisher, etc., of the document can evade potential difficulty such as inconvenience, confusion, legal accountability as a result of the contents of a document at a link destination under control of a third party by controlling link/access based on the reliability of the document.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accelerate and also simplify access data in a record by constituting a user interface element so as to incorporate a scroll display element that is associated with a selected node display element. SOLUTION: A map display 60 includes plural node display elements 62, and they are interconnected via plural link display elements 64. A node display devices 62 to be linked are directly connected to links among them and are visually and mutually adjacent. Also, the elements 64 form link markers and they are shown by a circular peg or a similar flag which are arranged at intersections of the devices 62. Another display element that can be included in the display 60 is a scroll display element that is also known as a slider 73 or a pack. Thus the element 64 can be provided with a scroll bar 72 for movement through the content of a record associated with them as an additional function.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color contrast adjuster automatically selecting/applying the new combination of colors to a text and a background based on the present combination of colors. SOLUTION: A color contrast adjuster 123 is capable of storing the combination of plural colors for each user without regard to the existence/absence of a problem. The color contrast adjuster can replace a color combination having a problem with a suitable color combination. In addition, a color combination example is presented to a user to allow the user to select a better color combination and to add the suitable combination and the combination having the problem to a user preference 124. Thus, the color contrast adjuster can correspond to the added color combination having the problem. The color contrast adjuster is also capable of showing the former color of an object, whose color is changed, to the user.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for generating a cover sheet to be transmitted to a reception facsimile system by providing a step for generating a facsimile cover sheet and the step for attaching the facsimile cover sheet to a facsimile document. SOLUTION: This method is provided with the step for generating the facsimile cover sheet and the step for attaching the facsimile cover sheet to the facsimile document. A facsimile system 10 usable for generating the facsimile cover sheet is indicated as a dedicated or stand-alone facsimile system for which an internal processor (CPU) 14 is connected through a bus 18 to a memory 16. The processor 14 is constituted of one or plural processors. The memory 16 is constituted of a random access memory(RAM) and auxiliary memories such as a cache memory and a read only memory.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for defining one or more events of executing Java script, when a web page is bookmarked. SOLUTION: In a preferable mode of execution, a browser determines whether a requested web page has been requested from a bookmark, whether the requested page is bookmarked at present, and further whether the requested page is a home page of the browser. This information is transmitted together with a page request, and a web server can thereby execute an appropriate action, based on this information. One or more events are defined for executing corresponding Java script for respectively showing, when the page is loaded from the bookmark; and when the page is bookmarked, when the page is not bookmarked, and further when the page is a home page of the browser.
