Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device, a program product and a method to control access to a document linked on a computer. SOLUTION: Reliability of the linked document is confirmed by calculation and user navigation from a document with which a distrusted document is linked to a distrusted document is suppressed. An owner, an author, a developer and a publisher, etc., of the document can evade potential difficulty such as inconvenience, confusion, legal accountability as a result of the contents of a document at a link destination under control of a third party by controlling link/access based on the reliability of the document.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone equipped with a position detector for detecting geographical position of the portable telephone and a telephone system by which one or more land-based telephones or portable telephones can be called according to the geographical position. SOLUTION: One or more zones are defined, and a corresponding telephone parameter is defined for each zone. When a portable telephone enters or leaves a defined zone, or moves between two defined zones, functions of one or more land-based telephones or portable telephones can be changed. In a preferred embodiment, functions of one or more other telephones can be changed based on a geographical position of the portable telephone self-detected as described above. Thus, convenience of a portable telephone is improved significantly.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for identifying a traffic pattern, deciding a course, or determining a traffic jam, by using a known navigation system using identified information. SOLUTION: This computer system is used for deciding an appropriate course by determining a traffic pattern and traffic jam, by using the determined traffic pattern and traffic jam, and by using the global positioning system(GPS) and a related route map calculator. A vehicle is equipped with an on-vehicle computer system adapted to determine traveling time of the vehicle for each road section and to compute the course based on this information. A distributed network can be provided wherein this information is delivered to other vehicles or can be shared with other vehicles by other methods, and similar information is received from other vehicles to generate and share experienced traffic patterns. Also, a traffic pattern can be forecast by using this information.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for defining one or more events of executing Java script, when a web page is bookmarked. SOLUTION: In a preferable mode of execution, a browser determines whether a requested web page has been requested from a bookmark, whether the requested page is bookmarked at present, and further whether the requested page is a home page of the browser. This information is transmitted together with a page request, and a web server can thereby execute an appropriate action, based on this information. One or more events are defined for executing corresponding Java script for respectively showing, when the page is loaded from the bookmark; and when the page is bookmarked, when the page is not bookmarked, and further when the page is a home page of the browser.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for dynamically adjusting the scroll speed of information on various television programs, that television viewers can use and to provide a program product, and to provide a method therefor. SOLUTION: Scroll speed can be changed for reinforcing specified program information with respect to other program information, by making scroll slow for an important program information so as to be easily viewed or making scroll fast for not so important program information so as to be difficult to view. Dynamic scroll speed adjustment can be used for conditions, where it is combined with a noninteractive electronic program list, an interactive electronic program guide and an electronic overlay. Then, dynamic scroll seed adjustment can be performed, base on the various characteristics of the television program, associated with the access frequency of the various television programs, the sponsor of the specified television program and the program information to be displayed, etc.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To present advertisement to a user by minimizing the influence of a scroll bar equipped with integrated advertisement on any available space on a computer display. SOLUTION: A scroll bar 60 is displayed on a computer display 50. Then, advertisement 62 is displayed on at least part of the scroll bar 60. Thus, while the computer display can be utilized to the utmost, any possible adverse effect on the productivity of a user can be minimized.
