Abstract: PURPOSE: To improve the user interface of a dependent work station by a work station controller. CONSTITUTION: In a system including plural dependent work stations 20 connected through a work station controller 30 to a host processor, the entry field of an edition mask mark is applied. That is, protection is applied to the position of the edition mask mark in the entry filed at the time of correcting the information of a display screen by the operations of hardware and software executed in the work station controller. An editing function by a deletion in kind of key stroke such as an insertion key and a deletion key can be processed by the work station controller without interrupting the display position of the preliminarily selected edition mask mark.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To support the plural display sessions of a non-programmable terminal by a single address. CONSTITUTION: This is a method and device for supporting plural display sessions by a single address in non-programmable terminals(NPT) 14 connected with a host computer 12 by a work station controller(WSC) 18. The WSC 18 enables the divided addressing of the plural display sessions of the NPT 14. The WSC 18 changes a focus on one selected from among the plural display sessions in response to focus change from the NPT 14 and the reception of a data stream for the requested display session which is not provided with the focus from the host computer. The NPT 14 has the focus on one display session in an active state for a user interface, and a different display session for communicating with the host computer 12. Thus, this can be transparent to a user and the host computer 12.
