Abstract: PURPOSE: To support the plural display sessions of a non-programmable terminal by a single address. CONSTITUTION: This is a method and device for supporting plural display sessions by a single address in non-programmable terminals(NPT) 14 connected with a host computer 12 by a work station controller(WSC) 18. The WSC 18 enables the divided addressing of the plural display sessions of the NPT 14. The WSC 18 changes a focus on one selected from among the plural display sessions in response to focus change from the NPT 14 and the reception of a data stream for the requested display session which is not provided with the focus from the host computer. The NPT 14 has the focus on one display session in an active state for a user interface, and a different display session for communicating with the host computer 12. Thus, this can be transparent to a user and the host computer 12.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a method and a device for displaying an image and facsimile data in the display device of a host application. CONSTITUTION: A host computer 12 generates control/down load commands for displaying image or facsimile data. Image and facsimile data are processed by a non-programmable terminal(NPT) 14 or a programmable work station(PWS) 15 and are displayed on a display screen. When a user requests a different function, NPT 14 or PWS 15 stores image information and transmits image information to the host computer 12. Stored image information contains cache image counter data and scaling and observation image screen position data, which are used for restoring displayed image and facsimile data, when the user returns to the previous function.
