    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protection mechanism with which a disk is not damaged even when narrowing a space provided in order to protect the disk drive and to provide an electronic apparatus. SOLUTION: Between a palm rest 24 of a notebook-sized personal computer and a hard disk drive 26, a reinforcing member 32 to reinforce the palm rest 24 is provided. The reinforcing member 32 has a dome part 34 and an outer peripheral part 38 which is continuous with the peripheral edge of a dome part 34 and the outer peripheral part 38 is supported by guide members 30A and 30B. Thereby, when force, such as impact force, is applied from the outer side of the palm rest 24 and the dome part 34 receives the pressing force, the reinforcing member 32 is supported by the guide members 30A and 30B. Thus, the maximum value d of the space which should be opened on a casing 25 for the protect of the hard disk drive 26 is remarkably small compared with conventional technique. Such a small space is very convenient for performing thinning of the notebook-sized personal computer.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device assembly incorporating an LCD unit into it, rotatably connected to a processing equipment main body with a hinge and capable of increasing the size of liquid crystal, by putting a liquid crystal display device unit, which has a bracket fitting on the flank, in a rear cover. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display device assembly is composed of an LCD unit 10, a right hinge member 20, a left hinge member 30, and the rear cover 40. The LCD unit 10 includes an LCD main body, which is driven according to display data and a light source for lighting up the display contents of the LCD to its front. The right and left hinge members 20 and 30 support the LCD unit 10 on the right and left flanks and consists of an upper bracket fitted to the right and left flanks of the LCD unit 10, a lower bracket, which is fitted to a notebook computer main body, and a coupling part, which hinges the brackets with a specified torque of rotation. The rear cover 40 contains the LCD unit 40, covers its back side, and constitutes part of a housing.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technique inhibiting access to a computer when the security device of the computer with a security function is illegally removed. SOLUTION: A security device is hardware taking responsibility for a part of the security function of a computer and inhibits access with the following procedures when illegally removed. Data indicating that the security device is mounted on the computer is stored and held in a nonvolatile memory. After that, a procedure to inhibit access to the computer is started with some event such as power-on as a start. Next, it is detected on the basis of the data in memory that the security device has been mounted. It is further detected that the security device is now removed from the computer. When the security device is now removed even through it has been mounted, access to the computer is inhibited.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flap open and close mechanism that does not give a problem for opening and closing of the flap, even if the height of the turn plate of the flap is shortened and made thin. SOLUTION: The flap open and close mechanism 20 comprise flaps 40 A, B which open and close the opening formed in the housing of a notebook personal computer, a first axis portion 46A and a second axis portion 46B which respectively support rotatably the turn plate 44A, B formed by bending the flaps 40A, B, an insertion hole 58 formed at the coupling face 54 of the flap 40 and an open pin 60 to be inserted into the insertion hole 58 from the outside. The positions of the first axis portion 46A and the second axis 48B are established according to the height of the turn plate 44, so that the rotating moment of opening the flap 40 reward outside the housing is larger than the rotating moment of opening toward inside. By this arrangement, it is possible to shorten the height of the turn plate 44, thereby the flap open and close mechanism 20 can be made thinner.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrical connection structure for an electronic parts unit, facilitating assembling work in mounting the electronic parts unit. SOLUTION: A speaker unit 40 to be mounted on a PC body 12 of a notebook PC 10 has a connector 50 provided with a compression terminal 74 and integrally mounted on a frame 42 of the speaker unit 40. The compression terminal 74 is connected with a lead 46 extending from a speaker. When the speaker unit 40 is arranged on a speaker unit mounting portion 32, the compression terminal 74 is arranged at a position contacting a land 38 of a system board 28. A screw 120 is tightened into a supporting portion 80 of a housing 18 in this state, whereby the speaker unit 40 is fixed and at the same time the compression terminal 74 is pressed against the land 38 and electrically connected thereto.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To use it as both a palm rest and a handle by enabling a palm of a key operator to rest on it at its slanting position, enabling it to be stored inside a cover at its upright position and also forming clearance gap for a handhold between it and the front wall of a body case at its slanting position. CONSTITUTION: When a PC 12 is used, a bottom surface 54A of an arm 54 hits angle member 24 of a bottom case 22, so its slanting position is secured. Because a rest surface 10A of a palm rest 10 and a surface of a keyboard 34 are on the same plane, a key operator can operate in a comfortable position. When the PC 12 is carried, the PC 12 can be carried by closing a cover 18 with the palm rest 10 slanted and passing fingers through a handhold 52. Also, when the PC 12 is stored, the palm rest 10 is turned around an axle pin 56 to its vertical state and then its standing plane 10B hits the top surface of the keyboard 34. When the cover 18 is closed, an inner wall of aid frame 32 hits a rear side surface 10C of the palm rest 10 and then, the palm rest 10 can be maintained without backlash.
