Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power generating mechanism for efficiently converting the heat energy of a heating part formed in electronic equipment into electric energy. SOLUTION: In a power generating mechanism 40, a heat sink 42 of a CPU cooler 2C is mounted on a CPU 20 of a note-sized PC 10 so that heat generated by the CPU 20 can be radiated, and that component cooling can be realized. A Seebeck element module 60A is mounted on the heat sink 42 so that a large temperature difference can be applied with the heat emitted from the heat sink 42 and the cooling accompanied with the blast of a fan unit 44. Thus, an electromotive force to be obtained from the Seebeck element module 60A can be increased.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technique inhibiting access to a computer when the security device of the computer with a security function is illegally removed. SOLUTION: A security device is hardware taking responsibility for a part of the security function of a computer and inhibits access with the following procedures when illegally removed. Data indicating that the security device is mounted on the computer is stored and held in a nonvolatile memory. After that, a procedure to inhibit access to the computer is started with some event such as power-on as a start. Next, it is detected on the basis of the data in memory that the security device has been mounted. It is further detected that the security device is now removed from the computer. When the security device is now removed even through it has been mounted, access to the computer is inhibited.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmitting and receiving method, a transmission and reception card, and a portable information terminal which can reduce power consumption and eliminate spuriousness. SOLUTION: The transmitting and receiving method is for a transmitting and receiving device 1 comprising an antenna 2, a transmitting circuit including an amplifier 3 for transmission, a receiving circuit including an amplifier 4 for reception, a transmission/reception changeover switch 5 which switches a connection between the antenna 2 and amplifier 3 for transmission and a connection between the antenna 2 and the amplifier 4 for reception, and a BB/RF module 6 which controls their operations. This transmitting and receiving method controls the amplifier 3 for transmission to operate and the amplifier 4 for reception not to operate in transmission, and also controls the amplifier 3 for transmission not to operate and the amplifier 4 for reception to operate in reception.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superior AC adapter which is capable of reducing power at the time of non-use and a battery driving-type electronic unit which can use the AC adapter. SOLUTION: An AC adapter 10 is provided with a first conversion circuit 12 for converting inputted AC voltage into DC voltage having a first voltage level and outputting it to an output line, a switch 20 provided for the primary side of the first conversion circuit, a second conversion circuit 31 for converting inputted AC voltage into a second voltage level higher than the first voltage level and outputting it to the output line, and an AC adapter operation control circuit 32 for comparing the voltage level on the output line with a reference voltage which is higher than the first voltage level and lower than the second voltage level, turning on the switch when output voltage becomes less than reference voltage, and turning off the switch when output voltage exceeds the reference voltage. When the demand for power voltage does not exist on an electronic unit-side, voltage on the output line exceeds reference voltage and the operation of the first conversion circuit 12 is stopped.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a wireless access point from a mobile computer such as a note PC, a PDA and the like without using a special device for detecting access points. SOLUTION: The card for wireless network communication includes an access point detecting circuit which detects wireless access points via a wireless antenna. The access point detecting circuit is provided with an electric power inflow path which supplies electric power in response to a request for access point detection from a user, when the power of a device is off or suspended to which the card for wireless network communication is attached. The card for communication allows the access point detecting circuit to operate in response to power supply from the electric power inflow path. When the access point detecting circuit detects a wireless access point in response to the instruction, access point detection signals are transmitted to a detection indicator or a detection voice output device. In this way, wireless access points can be detected without starting up the above device. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent illegal access to a non-contact data carrier system by using a radio frequency identification(RFID) computer, for example, without lowering a performance. SOLUTION: A RFID computer 30 is provided with a CPU 35, an EEPROM 34, communication equipment 31 and 32 and power control units 40 and 41. When the RFID computer 30 in power-on state is passed through a portal gate provided in the entrance/exit of an illegal access prevention zone without authority, that portal gate transmits a signal for setting on a tamper bit 44 in the EEPROM 34. The EEPROM 34, which sets on the tamper bit 44 with this signal, outputs a tamper bit interrupt request signal. The power control units 40 and 41, which receive this signal, turn off the power of the RFID computer 30.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide battery driven electronic equipment for which an AC adapter for converting a commercial AC voltage into a DC voltage is utilized. SOLUTION: This electronic equipment can be operated by at least either the DC voltage from the external AC adapter or a DC voltage from a built-in battery. The electronic equipment consumes a small quantity of power when voltage is inputted even when the electronic equipment does not operate. The electronic equipment is provided with a means for deciding whether or not to need power feeding from the outside and a means for disconnecting an input line from the AC adapter while the electronic equipment does not need the power feeding from the outside. Thus, it is possible to reduce consumption of power from the AC adapter through the input line when the electronic equipment does not need the power feeding from the outside.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily realize information communication even if a computer is operated at an energy saving mode where power consumption is suppressed. SOLUTION: In the power-on method, an RF data reception program is executed by the supply of the power of a computer. A high level signal equivalent to a signal outputted when AC power is detected through an OR element 79 in setting for validating a power-on function is outputted. A power-on circuit 75 controls a regulator circuit 69 and outputs power voltage. A power controller 45 conducts an FET switch 35 through a power switch controller 48 and supplies power to an RF module 33. At the time of a power saving mode, a Wake UP signal is outputted from the RF module 33 and the power controller 45 turns on power. The power-on circuit 75 controls the regulator circuit 69, outputs power voltage and turns on power through a detection circuit 83 even at the time of a minimum power operation.

As the objective computer, a computer constituted of a computer main body, a display device and a keyboard or a notebook-sized computer 2 constituted of a computer main body provided with a keyboard and a display device acting as a cover that can freely be opened/ closed with respect to the computer main body is used. In the computer provided with such option unit 14, the option unit 14 is loaded onto the display device 11 attachably and detachably or the option unit is detachably loaded onto the computer at a place being the side of the display device when the cover is closed and at a place being the upper part of the display device when the cover is opened.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inhibit access to a computer when the security device of a computer with a security function is illegally detached. SOLUTION: When the computer is powered ON, a POST program is executed and in the setting which makes the security function effective, an RFID chip 33 holds Removal Detect Enable at high level and outputs it to the control side of an analog switch 67 and one input side of a NAND element 63. A 1st short-circuit element 36 is isolated by the attachment or detachment of an RF antenna 37 to disconnect terminals 71 and 73 and an INTR signal of keyboard inhibition is outputted with the high-level signal of the element 63, inhibiting access to the computer. When the power source is OFF and the RF antenna is attached or detached, an analog switch 67 is turned OFF to cut off the electric power from a lithium battery to a CMOS memory 50, thereby inhibiting access to the computer.
