Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide connectivity of Internet video telephone which is easy for a general user of the Internet. SOLUTION: A server A refers to a corresponding record on the basis of the user name characteristics of a user B which is received from a user A to search for a server B which accommodates the user B and the telephone number of the user B, and informs the server B of a request for connection. The server A and server B area always connected to each other and the server B can comply immediately with the request from the server A. The server B refers to the corresponding record in a storage location to confirm whether or not the user B currently has an IP connection and when not, the server B itself makes a dial-up IP connection with the user B. The server B informs the server A of the completion of the IP connection with the user B, and the server A informs the user A of the completion of the IP connection. The users A and B having the IP connection enter a transparent state and communicate with each other even over the Internet.

The service node 40 distributes the position data provided from the Web server 20 through the communication network 10 to the client node 30 and the client node 30 displays the route from the current position to the destination on a map and shows it to a driver.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To send also image data without residence regardless of placing priority onto voice data by adjusting a compression rate of the image data depending on whether or not a packet includes the voice data. SOLUTION: When image data are received, an image code compression rate module applies code compression to the data and a data mixing separate program takes over the control. The data mixing separate program applies code compression to the voice data received at this point of time and mixes the voice data with the received image data and divides the resulting data into packets and updates a Voice Activity (VA) bit denoting the presence of voice input for each 20msec. A voice prediction module reads the VA bit for each prescribed time (t) and references a history of the VA bit within a prescribed time T (T>t) to predict whether or not the voice input is received while image data of a frame are transferred, and also calculates an optimum bit rate based on the result of prediction and feeds back the result.
