Abstract: PURPOSE: To drive a liquid crystal panel without causing any flickering in pictures no producing any noise. CONSTITUTION: Analog signals (R) are inputted to sample-and-hold circuits SH through an amplifier 14. The voltage values of the analog signals held by the corresponding sample-and-hold circuits SH1,..., SH(n/2) when the first-half clock signal is inputted are outputted to the sample-and-hold circuit SH(n/2+1) after the voltage values are added to each other by means of an adder 16 and the sum is divided by 'n/2' by means of a divider 18. The voltage values of the analog signals held by the corresponding sample-and-hold circuits SH(n/2+2),... SH(n+1) when the second-half clock signal is inputted are outputted to the sample-and-hold circuit SH(n+2) after the voltage values are added to each other by means of an adder 16' and the sum is divided by 'n/2' by means of a divider 18'. The outputs from the circuits SH(n/2+1) and SH(n+2) are added to each other by means of an adder 24 and the sum is divided by '2' by means of a divider 26. A driver circuit applies a voltage across the corresponding electrodes of a liquid crystal panel in accordance with the output of the divider 26.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a gradational display by specifying the ratio of light transmissivity of light transmissivity control layers for many picture elements in one display unit. CONSTITUTION:The light transmissivity control layers 31-34 are provided inside an opposite substrate 4, i.e. on the side of a TFT array substrate 2 and arranged in areas of picture elements T1-T4, and the ratio of light transmissivity of the light transmissivity control layers 31-34 is set to 2 :2 :2 ...2 , i.e. 1:2:4:8. Therefore, the light passing and light shielding of the picture elements T1-T4 are combined to represent 16 gradations. Consequently, the gradational display is made without increasing the area of one display unit nor adjusting finely a voltage applied to liquid crystal of each picture element.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To make the contrast of a display picture high and to make a light-shielding layer thin by providing a color filter formed at a position corresponding to a chromatic color picture element and a translucent filter formed in the vicinity of the outer periphery of the position corresponding to an achromatic color picture element and the position corresponding to a picture element where the color filter is formed. CONSTITUTION: Only the filters 12, 14 and 16 of respective colors are formed on a side a little inside from the position corresponding to a picture element electrode 6 formed on a glass substrate 2 at the filter layers 9 of red, green and blue picture elements 13, 15 and 17, namely chromatic picture elements, and the translucent filter 18 and the filters 12, 14 and 16 of the respective colors are laminated at an outside position than a little inside from the position corresponding to the picture element electrode 6 formed on the position other than that, namely on the glass substrate 2. The filter layer 9 of the achromatic picture element 19 having the translucent filter 18 is constituted by laminating the translucent filter 18 and transparent material 20. Also, the light-shielding layer 21 is formed by laminating the filters 12, 14 and 16 of the respective colors and the translucent filter 18. Thus, high contrast is obtained and the light-shielding layer is made thin.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively correct dependency between transmissivity and impression voltage characteristic for every color by generating a gradation corrected by adjusting a gradation concerning one wavelength and delaying outputs of gradations which are not corrected concerning other wavelengths by a time required for the generation of the corrected gradation. SOLUTION: A color to be an object for correction and colors which are not to be objects for correction are respectively defined as blue (B) and red (R), green (G). A part 20 to which gradation data concerning these R, G are inputted includes a delay circuit 24, which compensates a time when gradation data B0∼B5 concerning B are operated by an arithmetic circuit 32 and a condition judging table 33. That is, gradation data R0∼R5, G0∼G5 concerning R, G corresponding to gradation data B0∼B5 concerning B receive delays equivalent to the delay of the data of B by a delay circuit 24. As a result, a timing in which the gradation data B0∼B5 concerning B are outputted from a buffer circuit 36 to an X driver and a timing in which the gradation data R0∼R5, G0∼G5 concerning R, G are outputted from a buffer circuit 26 to the X driver become the same time.

Abstract: A gas panel fabrication method includes forming a first set of dielectrically coated parallel conductors on a glass plate, forming a metal spacer layer over the first conductors, oxidizing those areas of the metal spacer layer which are between the first conductors, forming a second set of dielectrically coated parallel conductors over the spacer layer in orthogonal relationship with the first conductors, etching the unoxidized areas of the spacer layer from between the second conductors, and forming a cover plate to hold an ionizable gas adjacent to the orthogonal conductors.
