    Abstract: To correct the dependency of the transmissivity/applied voltage characteristics on color, a computing circuit is provided for generating corrected gray scale data by performing an addition or subtraction of the gray scale level related to at least one color. A delay circuit delays the gray scale data for uncorrected colors to maintain synchronization between the gray scale signals of all colors.

    Abstract: In a colour liquid crystal display grey scale data for one colour is fed to a computing circuit 32. This circuit modifies the grey scale data by addition or subtraction so that it has the same transmissivity as the other colours. The unmodified greyscale signals for the other colours are directed to a buffer 26 which delays the signals while the modified greyscale is being generated. This technique corrects for the dependency of the transmissivity/voltage characteristic on wavelength.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shift an OCB cell from a spray orientation state to a bend orientation state in a short time by applying a voltage which is higher than an electric field needed to continue bend orientation between a display electrode (pixel electrode) and a common electrode. SOLUTION: When the power source is turned on, a power-on reset signal is outputted for t1 seconds, and a gate pulse which is about 20-20V similar to an ordinary gate pulse, but has a period much wider than that in ordinary gate timing is outputted to a gate line in the t1 seconds. The gate-on time of this driving method is set long to several msec - several sec. Consequently, the bend orientation as a nucleus is formed between the gate electrode and common electrode. Further, the whole pixel shifts to the bend orientation with the electric field applied between the display electrode and common electrode. As a higher and higher voltage is applied between the display electrode and common electrode, the shift to the bend orientation is faster and faster.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a back light for liquid crystal display device and a liquid crystal display device where a light source can be safely and easily replaced in perpendicular from the rear side in a small space and the cost is reduced. CONSTITUTION: A lamp guard unit 26 of a back light 20 is freely detachable from a lamp hold unit 24, which is fixed to a light transmission plate 22, in the direction orthogonal to the light irradiated face of the light transmission plate 22. Consequently, it is unnecessary to replace the whole of the back light 20 when a fluorescent lamp 44 is replaced, and a user is safe because he doesn't touch the fluorescent lamp 44 difficult to handle, and further, only a small space is required for detachment ecause it is pulled out in the perpendicular direction, and thus, the fluorescent lamp 44 is safely and easily replaced in the small space.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To display an image with a fixed quality on a liquid crystal display device regardless of the change of length of the period for applying a voltage of the same polarity to the liquid crystal. CONSTITUTION: The length of one period of a horizontal synchronous signal inputted from an information processing device to a LCD unit is counted, and on the basis of the length of one period and whether a gate overlap scan is performed or not, the amplitude and center of amplitude of the data voltage applied to a liquid crystal are corrected in such a manner that the amplitude of the data voltage is increased, and the correction quantity to the center of amplitude is increased as the length of the period of applying the data voltage of the same polarity to the liquid crystal is shortened. Thus, in both cases of a relatively long period and a short period, the absolute values V of the voltage between electrodes before and after TFT is OFF are equal to each other regardless of the polarity of the data voltage applied to the liquid crystal.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively correct dependency between transmissivity and impression voltage characteristic for every color by generating a gradation corrected by adjusting a gradation concerning one wavelength and delaying outputs of gradations which are not corrected concerning other wavelengths by a time required for the generation of the corrected gradation. SOLUTION: A color to be an object for correction and colors which are not to be objects for correction are respectively defined as blue (B) and red (R), green (G). A part 20 to which gradation data concerning these R, G are inputted includes a delay circuit 24, which compensates a time when gradation data B0∼B5 concerning B are operated by an arithmetic circuit 32 and a condition judging table 33. That is, gradation data R0∼R5, G0∼G5 concerning R, G corresponding to gradation data B0∼B5 concerning B receive delays equivalent to the delay of the data of B by a delay circuit 24. As a result, a timing in which the gradation data B0∼B5 concerning B are outputted from a buffer circuit 36 to an X driver and a timing in which the gradation data R0∼R5, G0∼G5 concerning R, G are outputted from a buffer circuit 26 to the X driver become the same time.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To prevent the generation of flicker, etc., when the contrast of an image to be displayed is changed. CONSTITUTION: The amplitude of a data voltage, of which the polarity is inverted at timing synchronized with the display cycle of the image, is changed corresponding to gradation and instructed contrast and the position of 0V (center) corresponding to the amplitude of the data voltage is offset by much offset quantity according to the increase of contrast. Thus, even when the instructed contrast is comparatively high and the amplitude of the data voltage is comparatively small as shown in (A) or even when the instructed contrast is comparatively low and the amplitude of the data voltage is comparatively large as shown in (B), a change ΔV of an inter-electrode voltage caused by the influence of parasitic capacitance of a TFT in the case of turning off the TFT is corrected and after the TFT is turned off, the inter-electrode voltage is made equal in spite of the polarity of data voltage to be impressed to liquid crystal.
