Abstract: For an area fill technique, a digital image in a digital storage is defined by contour lines (e.g. P6-P7) that have an even number of intersections with each horizontal line in a digital storage; for this purpose, horizontal parts in the contour line are ignored, as well as the start points of contour line segments (e.g.P5) that are generated from vector data. Furthermore picture elements (pixels) of contour lines are written by an exclusive OR operation into their corresponding storage location. The area fill operation proceeds then line by line to start writing in filling characters at an odd pixel and ending at the next even pixel. Filling is preferrably performed by exclusive-ORing adjacent storage locations during the line scanning process.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain computer security by using plural passwords and to make passwords easy to memorize and hard to be stolen. SOLUTION: When a computer is actuated, a password input part 26 displays a password input image. A password management part 24 selects one password Sc that index data 1c indicates out of set ciphered passwords Sc1 to ScN. When a user inputs a password PW, a ciphering part 22 ciphers the inputted password PW by a hash function h(x), etc., to generate a ciphered password S1. A password comparison and authentication part 28 compares the ciphered passwords Se and S1 and authenticates the user when the both match each other. The password management part 24 sets the value of the index data Ic to (IemodNmnx+1) according to the authentication of the password and makes the set ciphered passwords Se1 to SeN cyclically effective.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To display a line between screen areas without changing the existing display circuit by displaying a first screen being a host data area and a second screen being an operator information area respectively at upper and lower parts in a divided screen operational mode, and generating a horizontal separator line between those areas. CONSTITUTION: A display screen controller 12 is operated in a divided screen operation mode, and a first screen area being a host data area and a second screen area being an operator information area(OIA) (neither is shown in a figure) are displayed respectively at upper and lower parts. The controller 12 reads data from a screen memory (not shown in a figure) and displays a corresponding alphanumeric character line so that each alphanumeric character can be displayed as plural picture elements arrayed along a first numeric horizontal scanning line. Next, the controller 12 displays a horizontal visual separator line (not-shown in a figure) between the final line in the first screen area and the first line in the second screen area. Thus, this line is displayed without changing the control circuit 12.
