    Abstract: The switching circuit provides points (as 18) for connecting permanently the transmitter (12) of a control device (11) to the transmitting side of the telephone switches network, as soon as the control device has been warned of failure of the tributary link. A detecting circuit (31) is connected between the receiving side of the telephone switched network and the receiver (16) of the control device. The circuit is operative for detecting a heading signal sent by the tributary station associated to the tributary link which has failed. A two-position switch (30) is controlled by the control device (11) for disconnecting the receiver (16) from the receiving side of the principal link and for connecting it to the receiving side of the telephone switched network in response to reception by the control device of a heading signal.

    Abstract: Near (20) and far (22) echo cancellers have outputs summed by an adder (26) to provide an estimated echo signal in digital form from the transmitted outgoing digital signal. A first path includes a DAC (48) for converting the digital estimated echo to analog form and an analog subtractor (52) receiving the analog estimated echo and the incoming signal to provide an echo-free analog incoming signal. A second path includes an ADC (42) converting the analog incoming signal to digital form, and a digital subtractor (44) receives the digital estimated echo and the digital incoming signal to provide a digital signal used as a source for control of the echo cancellers.

    Abstract: TONE DETECTOR AND MULTIFREQUENCY RECEIVER USING SAID DETECTOR The purpose of the receiver is to indicate the reception of a multifrequency signal and to identify said signal. A multifrequency signal is a signal combining two predetermined pure tones, one belonging to a high-frequency range, the other to a low-frequency range. The received signal is sampled at 8 KHz and digitally converted. The signal provided by the converter is simultaneously processed by two tone detectors. Each tone detector comprises : a bandpass filter covering the high- or low-frequency range and supplying the components (x, y) of the filtered signal in Cartesian coordinates; decimation means at the output of said filters; a converter converting the Cartesian coordinates (x, y) into polar coordinates (p, .THETA.); and logic circuits analyzing the variations of said p and .theta. over fixed periods of time to derive therefrom an identification of the received tone.

    Abstract: A switching network includes electronic crosspoint switches for providing electronic connection or disconnection between two voice stations. Each station is connected to the network through a line transformer. When two stations are connected to each other, the voice path in the network includes the secondary winding of the 1st station transformer, a series of crosspoint switches, a middle junctor, a series of crosspoint switches, and the secondary winding of the 2nd station transformer. Each middle junctor includes a negative resistance circuit which introduces a negative resistance in series with the voice path, thus compensating for the series losses in the network, and two negative inductance circuits connected on both sides of the junctor in parallel with the voice path, to compensate for the parallel losses, especially those introduced by the line transformers.

    Abstract: A multiplier (58) phase rotates a generated echo signal by a value X which is the estimated phase-roll value to provide a complex phase-roll connected signal. The error signal differenced between the incoming signal and the real component (112) of the corrected signal is then multipled (124) by the imaginary component (120) to provide a value Y. A phase variation estimator (128) determines the phase roll value Z in half-duplex mode, as well as in full-duplex mode, in response to this value Y. A phase filter (126) provides the estimated value X in response to the phase-roll value Z. Pref. the estimator (128) includes a third multiplier providing a value proportional to the value Y and a fourth multiplier multiplying the sign bits to provide a low-value estimate of the value Z.
