Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for comparing polygon data with a little information while keeping accuracy. SOLUTION: Concerning a first moment function for summing up apex information in the point-symmetric direction of a polygon with the same code as the function of the axial moment quantity of the polygon when a line passing a point, which is on a spherical surface having a variable with the center of gravity of the polygon as a center, having the quantity of a variable and the center of the spherical surface is defined as an axis and a second moment function for summing up apex information in the point-symmetric direction of polygon data with different codes, when comparing two polygons, the square sum of the difference of the first moment function and the square sum of the difference of the second moment function are independently obtained and normalized and the sum of the both is calculated or the sum function of the first and second moment functions are obtained and the square sum of the difference of the sum function is calculated (1). When the value of the sum is not more than a certain threshold value, it is judged the polygons are similar forms (2).

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for effectively discriminating occlusion of an object, such as humans, having flexibility. SOLUTION: After initialization (step 1), an image is inputted (step 2), and an image area is extracted (step 4) by separating a background and a foreground from each other. In extraction of the area, the shape of a two-dimensional histogram of a color space can be used. In consideration of all possible connecting methods of the extracted area, a graph is formed (step 5), while using an area between frames as a node. The node can be provided with a variable value of a confidence factor, and an edge connecting the nodes together can be provided with image characteristics of the color space and an actual space as the weight. In a graphing process (step 6), path finding is carried out on a path of a graph, and a connecting method having a low possibility as the path is eliminated from a path confidence factor. A branching node is detected as occlusion, to be marked up. When connectivity of the occlusion part is a single possibility, this connection is selected.

These values are normalized, the sum of the both is calculated and when the value of the sum is less than a threshold, the polyhedrons are judged as having similar forms.
