Abstract: PURPOSE: To make a device small and thin, while executing a shock absorbing countermeasure by permitting a flexible cable to constitute an absorbing material at one end side of a fixed disk storage device, to support the fixed disk storage device. CONSTITUTION: The fixed hard magnetic disk storage device 2 is covered by an external box 6 and a connector 7 for executing electric connection to the storage device 2 inside the external box 6 is provided at one end of the external box 6. One end side of the storage device 2 is supported between the connectors 7 and the storage device 2 through the use of the flexible cable 11, and the other end side of the storage device 22 is supported by shock-absorbing materials 12 and 13 having elastic force opposing the elastic force of the flexible cable 11. Thus, the cable 11 is the supporting material of the storage device 2 and, at same time, plays the roll of the shock absorbing material for absorbing a shock added to the storage device 2.
