Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display panel and a display device, capable of enhancing opening ratio of a pixel area. SOLUTION: In each pixel area of a liquid crystal panel 100 of a transverse electric field system, a pixel electrode 18 is made into a two-layer structure consisting of a lower part pixel electrode 21, which is positioned on the same layer as that of a signal line 15 and a upper part pixel electrode 22, which is positioned on the same layer as that of a common electrode 17, and the electrode part of the lower part pixel electrode 21 is set closer to the signal line 15 than to the upper part pixel electrode 22. Moreover, the signal line 15, a gate line 16 and the common electrode 17 are arranged overlapped.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquid crystal display device of a new structure having a wide viewing angle as well as high contrast over the whole viewing angle and to obtain the method for its production. SOLUTION: This device is equipped with a pair of first substrate 3 and a second substrate 4, a liquid crystal layer 5 held between the first substrate 3 and the second substrate 4, and switching electrodes comprising a first comblike electrode 1 and a second comblike electrode 2. Preferably, in the space between the protrusion 1-1 of the comblike electrode 1 and the protrusion 2-1 of the second comb-like electrode 2 which constitute the electrodes facing each other of the aforementioned switching electrodes, a first domain 6 and a second domain 7 symmetrically polarized, preferably in relation to the center X of the electrodes facing each other are formed.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method for a low power consumption liquid crystal display device excellent in picture quality and reliability by outputting two-split correction voltages even in case a gate line load increases as a result of a large-sized and high precision display screen. SOLUTION: A potential of a gate line Gn+1 is raised up to Vc1a, and at the same time, a potential of the previous stage gate line Gn is raised from Vc1a to Vc1b. And, for example, by making the potential of the gate line Gn+1 to Vc1b after 1H, a final effective value correction is performed to a picture element connected with the gate line Gn+1. In this way, a punch-through correction potential Vc1a and the effective correction potential Vc1b are separated into two steps to be applied to an auxiliary capacitor Cs. And since the effective value correction is performed after the punch-through voltage correction at the first step, the effective value correction does not decrease as it approaches to the gate end part.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquid crystal display device with little image display failure or deterioration. SOLUTION: The device has a common wire 502, gate wire 503, source wire 204 and alignment film in the outer peripheral region of a liquid crystal cell. The alignment film is insulated by an insulating film from the gate wire 503 and the source wire 204. The common wire 502 has a common potential exposed part 401 through an opening formed in the insulating film and electrically connected with the alignment film. Since the common voltage which is near the average voltage of the cell is supplied on the alignment film, display failure in the screen or deterioration caused by impurity ions remaining on the surface of the alignment film or in the alignment film can be prevented.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the generation of after-images by suppressing reverse twisting and to make a response speed better and an aperture ratio higher with a TFT drive liquid crystal display device having an IPS structure. SOLUTION: The electrodes on the upper side and the electrodes on the lower side of the auxiliary capacitors of the electrode structure of the IPS mode, in which the switching electrodes of the one pole and the switching electrodes of the other pole are arranged in parallel and the auxiliary capacitors are arranged non-parallel with the switching elements, are formed to different shapes. More particularly the auxiliary capacitors in proximity to the regions where reverse the twisting occurs is desirably formed to the shapes obtd. by cutting off the portions of the upper electrode in contact with the light transparent regions 110, 112.
