Abstract: A liquid crystal display device requiring no flicker adjustment after manufactured. The liquid crystal display device is of IPS drive type. Just after the liquid crystal display device is turned on, there is an intial voltage component between a pixel electrode and a common electrode. The initial DC voltage component is considered to cause flicker. When the DC voltage component is automatically lowered to an allowable value in a predetermined time after the power is turned on, flicker adjustment is not required by changing the potential applied to the electrodes in the pixels. For this, it is necessary to lower the initial DC compositions sufficiently and to make a construction in which charge can migrate at a high speed in the liquid crystal panel. A punching-through compensation drive method is adopted as one technique of lowering the initial DC components. The construction of opposed substrates are made preferrable to facilitate the migration of charge therein.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display device by which changes in the luminance in the sub-pixel part which comprises double exposure part(s) can be prevented. SOLUTION: In the patterning process of a TFT array substrate for a liquid crystal display device, the substrate is subjected to division exposure. In the exposure process of a resist, the substrate is divided into a plurality of fractions and exposed by using a stepper. The part where two division exposure regions are overlapped includes a part subjected to double exposure by considering the exposure error. The double exposure part is established into a non-linear form in the sub-pixel part. By establishing like this, the double exposure part is not overlapped with a storage capacitance or signal lines. Thus, changes in the capacitance in the storage capacitance between the signal lines and pixel electrodes can be prevented and irregular display or changes in the luminance can be prevented.

Moreover, the signal line 15, a gate line 16 and the common electrode 17 are arranged overlapped.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of an unclear display image and to improve the quality of an animation by allowing a writing means to write in black color for other pixel line during an interval in which an image is at least written in one pixel line. SOLUTION: An image, which is displayed to a user, is written into all pixels of one pixel line during one interval of one frame interval by gating both a black color signal portion 16 and an image signal portion 17 of a data signal. Then, during a next frame interval, only the portion 16 is gated prior to writing an image in one pixel line and black color for eliminating the persistence of vision is written into all pixels of the line. Thus, two kind gate/pulse DI has a wide width to gate both portions 16 and 17.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide the liquid crystal display device which is improved the light shielding capability in a frame area and preventing capability against electrostatic trouble without increasing manufacture processes as to the improvement of the frame area of the liquid crystal display panel of the liquid crystal display device. CONSTITUTION: A light shield layer 12 is formed in the frame area 1 on a TFT array substrate 3. The edge part of the light shield layer 12 has an overlap area 14 which overlaps with respective edge parts of data lines 10 as metallic layers and the surface of the TFT array substrate 3 by a specific overlap quantity (d) when viewed vertically. An insulating layer 16 is formed on the light shield layer 12 and TFT array substrate 3. On the insulating layer 16, a semiconductor layer 18 is formed. The data lines 10 are wired on the semiconductor layer 18.

Abstract: JA9-91-007 METHOD FOR DRIVING LCD AND APPARATUS FOR DRIVING LCD AND LCD APPARATUS To provide a liquid crystal display apparatus that simultaneously satisfies both good contrast ratios and good gradation at large viewing angles. A liquid crystal display apparatus in normally-white mode in which gray scale displaying is obtained by providing different applied voltages corresponding to different gray scale levels, respectively, is characterized in that, in a curve showing the relation between an applied voltage and light transmittance ( V-T curve ) the lowest applied voltage is set so as to be shifted in the direction of a monotonously decreasing area of the V-T curve. By shifting the lowest applied voltage in the V-T curve in the direction of a monotonously decreasing area of the V-T curve, brightness or gradation is prevented from being inverted. A liquid crystal display apparatus in normally-white mode in which gray scale displaying is obtained by providing different applied voltages corresponding to different gray scale levels, respectively, characterized in that in a curve showing the relation between the an applied voltage and light transmittance (thereafter called V-T curve) the lowest applied voltage is set so as to be shifted in the direction of a monotonously decreasing area of the V-T curve. By shifting the lowest applied voltage in the V-T curve in the direction of a monotonously decreasing area of the V-T curve, brightness or gradation is prevented from being inverted.
