    Abstract: PURPOSE: To extend a computer system where a local arbiter requesting bus sue gives the priority of respective bus user rights to a common arbitration bus through an open collector-type driving part and a winner is decided through a channel different from a bus signal line. CONSTITUTION: Substitution mechanisms 73 and 79 which substitute the priority of the other buses and have the functions of the local arbiters are provided in first and second systems connected through the channel in a signal transmission form different from the signal transmission form on the bus. In the buses of the first and second systems, arbitration is executed and the winners are decided. The priority of the winners is reported to the substitution mechanisms of the other buses through the channel as the priority of the pertinent buses. The winners of the arbitration of the pertinent buses in the buses and the substitution mechanisms substituting the priority of the other buses execute arbitration again after the notice and the final winner is decided.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To connect a wired OR signal line without interlocking in a bus connection device connected to the bus of an extension box or the other system through a signal transmission line whose signal form is different from the bus. CONSTITUTION: Substitution mechanisms 46 substituting the level of the wired OR signal line 51 of the other bus are provided for respective systems. The level of the signal line 51 is transmitted to the substitution mechanism 46 of the other system through a channel. When the substitution mechanism 46 is in a prescribed level, the system prevents the level of the signal line 51 from being transmitted to the other system. Thus, it is avoided that the transmission of the level avoids the continuation of echoing between the systems, and interlocking is released. Re-substitution mechanisms 47 making the mirror images of the substitution mechanisms of the other systems are provided for both systems. A prescribed level is transmitted to the substitution mechanism 47 of the other system based on the non-matching of the level of the re-substitution mechanism 47 with the level of the signal line 51 of the system.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To smoothly send data of different priority levels by sending the 2nd data having higher priority than the 1st data with an asynchronous interruption secured against the transmission of the 1st data. CONSTITUTION: The priority is previously given to every command, and a packet data processing part 30 outputs in sequence corresponding packet data based on each command priority when it must simultaneously transmit plural commands of different contents. An interruption sequencer 46 outputs above level data inputted from a non-packet data processing part 32 to an output part 44 as interruption data and also notifies a control part 48 of this output of the interruption data. The part 44 outputs the interruption data received from the sequencer 46 to a photoelectric conversion assembly 24 with preference. Thus, the above level data acquired by a primary system through the bus arbitration are sent to a secondary system.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a computer system which permits the attaching and detaching of adaptor or the like 2 even when the system is in an operating state, and can automatically reconfigure the system configuration in response to the attaching and detaching of the adaptor or the like 2. SOLUTION: Upon the insertion of the adaptor 2, an adaptor detection mechanism 11 notifies a resource manager 19 of the insertion of the adaptor 2 by an interrupt or the like. The resource manager 19, soon after the insertion of the adaptor 2, connects the adaptor 2 mechanically and electrically to the system, reads out the attribute information on the adaptor 2 from a memory therein, and performs a necessary setup and the installation of a device driver and the allocation of a memory or the like that are necessary for the system side, so that an application program makes the adaptor 2 usable. If a user desires to remove the adaptor, the user makes an adaptor removal request with an adaptor removal button 12 or from the program to the resource manager 19.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the computer system which enables an adapter, etc., to be mounted and dismounted even in a system operation state and can automatically reconstituting system constitution according to the mounting and dismounting of the adapter etc. SOLUTION: When the adapter 2 is mounted, an adapter detecting mechanism 11 informs a resource manager of the mounting of the adapter 2 by interruption etc. The resource manager connects the adapter 2 to the system mechanically and electrically right after the adapter 2 is mounted and reads attribute information on the adapter 2 out of the memory in the adapter 2 to make a necessary setup and the installation of a device driver and the allocation of a memory, etc., needed on the system side so that an application program can use the adapter 2. When the user wants to dismount the adapter, the user sends an adapter removal request to the resource manager with an adapter removal button 12 or by a program.
