Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To have a proper action and to evade the mismatching by capsulating the definition of an interface used for the UI entity and the information on the interface area and giving a notification to a display component when the display, change, shift or elimination is decided for the held information after a notification is received about a dialog of the relative users. SOLUTION: The 1st help information display shows a general-purpose UI entity definition component 20 including a part of a display manager framework and capsulates the details of an interface sensible area and the information on this area. The component 20 receives a notification when the display, change, shift or elimination is decided for the information including the received notification of a dialog of the relative users. The 2nd help information display shows a display component 30 which implements an interface of the display manager frame work that defines a general-purpose display method. The component 30 capsulates the details of a specific method for display of the information using a general-purpose method.

Abstract: A set of software components, a system and a method provide to a user of a data processing system per-value interpretative information relating to application data values. Abstract: A user can select actions in a user interface. An action can be selected by one or more "views" - for example, a "Print" action may be selected by selecting Print on a File menu, clicking on an icon of a printer, or pressing control-P. An action object defines, for each possible view representing the action, the attributes required to provide that view, and also an identifier to identify the operation to be invoked when the action is selected. The system identifies when a user selects a view and informs the action object of this. The action object then generates a command to invoke the desired operation. This mechanism achieves single event generation from multiple views, and therefore the application does not need to concern itself with how the user generated the call. The action views query the attributes of the action object directly, all the necessary data is held in one place, and with automatic view concurrency, the application developer no longer has to worry about keeping action views synchronised with each other.

Abstract: A user interface builder provides support for creation of customised user interfaces, enabling users to associate images, animation, sound clips and other media with specific predefined states of a user interface control. A set of object classes for each control predefined within the user interface builder include a first class defining the functional behaviour and a comprehensive state model for the control, and a second class which encapsulates property attributes which may be set by a user to be associated with specific states of the control. In particular, desired graphics images, audio and animation sequences can be associated with a control via simple GUI interaction, avoiding the need for an interface creator to write code for standard interface control functions and so enabling easy creation of interfaces with semantic consistency and customised appearance.
