Abstract:
Systems and methods of identifying and processing complex text are provided. If a presentation data stream contains a complex text string, a preselected control in the presentation data stream is inserted before the complex text string. A first parameter has a value indicating a control type for controlling processing of complex text, and a second parameter takes one or more values for enabling and disabling the processing of complex text. In processing complex text, responsive to a first predetermined type of control in a presentation data stream, if the first type of complex text processing is enabled, this processing is applied to a complex text string succeeding the first predetermined type of control in the presentation data stream. The first predetermined type of control includes a first parameter represented by a corresponding value for controlling the first type of complex text processing.

Abstract:
Disclosed is a method, system, program, and data structure for generating raster objects. A plurality of input contone and line work objects are received containing contone or li ne work data for at least one pixel on a sheet. For each input contone object, at least one output contone object is generating including color data for each pixel in the input contone object. For each input line work object, at least one output line work object is generating including color data for eac h pixel in the input print data object. Control data is generating for each pixel indicating whether to select data from the output line work object or output contone object for the pixel, wherein the control data is used by logic to select color data from the output line work object or output conton e object for pixel data to send to an output device to render the pixel data.

Abstract:
A character generator with multidirectional scan and variable line and character (or symbol) size capability is disclosed. Universality is implemented by producing a serial binary stream which can be used to print or display in any of eight combinations of scan direction and progression, that is, for scan direction left to right, or vice versa, progressing up or down, or scan direction top to bottom or vice versa, progressing left or right. In formatting the serial binary stream, a font is accessed (for basic symbol definition), which selectively provides for orthogonal scans of the symbol definitions. Variable line size is implemented by terminating a symbol row (or line) based on a predetermined size criteria regardless of the comparable font dimension and "filling" up to the line size to the extent the corresponding font dimension is less than the predetermined size criteria. Variable character (or symbol) size is implemented by independently multiplying the effect of a symbol definition by selected (integral) factors, in orthogonal directions. The general architecture includes a font table (for symbol definition), an address/escape (A/E) table, defining symbol size for comparison with line size parameters, a character position escape (CPE) table to define a leading character or symbol on each line and a page buffer (PB) memory defining the characters (symbols) in the document and their relationship with other characters (symbols). Access to the CPE table allows access to the PB, from there to the A/E table and from there to the font allows extraction of selected and appropriate portions of the symbol definition to make up the binary system.
