    Abstract: A system for providing low insertion force electrical interconnections between high density contacts for use in interconnecting circuit packages. A housing has disposed therein one or more pre-buckled beam connectors. Each connector has a resilient insulating strip carrying a plurality of buckling beams electrically isolated from each other. The beams are aligned on the plane defining the strip in parallel with ends extending away from the strip edges in opposing directions. Means are provided for deforming the strip within the housing prior to effecting desired interconnections whereby the beams are pre-buckled. Upon urging contacts into proximity with the beam ends, the buckling force is released causing each beam's ends to be urged away from the strip into engagement with respective contacts, thereby effecting desired interconnection between contacts and through one or more beams.

    Abstract: 1513555 Linkwork INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP. 22 Sept 1975 [19 Dec 1974] 38733/75 Heading F2K [Also in Division B3] Apparatus for positioning and feeding a workpiece through a work or servicing station 62 of a machine tool, e.g. a cutting or grinding machine, comprises a carrier 65 having at least two arms 26-29 on each of which a workpiece is mounted, the carrier being rotatably biased in the direction 61 and being movable along a slot 3 in a slide 4 which is movable at right angles to the longitudinal direction of the slot 3 against a bias acting in the direction 66, the carrier 65 being supported on a holder 1 having guide pins 20-23 extending from a bottom surface into a plurality of communicating guide channels 30, 32, 37, 38 etc. in a stationary part of the apparatus and which define a closed locus of movement of the holder including a working section corresponding to when the holder and carrier feed one of said workpieces through the work station 62, and a positioning section corresponding to when the holder and carrier move back to the beginning of the working section whilst causing translational and rotational movements thereof so that a new workpiece is ready to be fed through the work station. Means for causing cyclical movement of the holder and carrier 1, 65 comprises a continuously driven worm which is engaged by a pawl 13 only during the feed movement and drives the slide 4 against the bins 66. When the pawl is disengaged the bias 66 returns the slide 4 and so causes the translational and rotary movement of the holder 1.
