PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide and execute new power scheme capable of setting a temper ature and a noise quantity of a device. SOLUTION: This information processor has a CPU, and a cooling means for cooling this CPU, and is constituted so as to control driving of either one or both of the cooling means or the CPU on the basis of this setting content (Step S6, and S10) by receiving one or two settings of either three setting elements selected from performance of the CPU, operation time of a battery for driving the information processor, the temperature of the device, and the noise quantity generated by the cooling means for cooling the CPU (Step S1). PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for dealing in personal information in a state wherein a general user as the original user (user of IPS) can participate while complying with various requests of companies and general users using the Internet. SOLUTION: A user 3 who receives connection service through an Internet service provider(ISP) 2 provides the ISP 2 with his or her personal information while specifying whether the information may be made open to the public by items such as the name, address, age, email address, etc. The ISP structures a database 6 for personal information on users and provides companies 4 with only personal information that users allow to be made open to the public for pay. Some of profits obtained from the companies 4 are returned to the users 3 by, for example, discounting the connection service charge.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a computer device and a control method or the like for mounting and dismounting a device capable of mounting plural devices in a hot-swappable manner. SOLUTION: In a notebook type PC, when a bay device 32 is hot-swapped/ warm-swapped with two connectors 72A and 72B connected to an IDE controller 70, a bay controller electrically (virtually) disconnects the connectors 72A and 72B once, and the bay device 32 is mounted and dismounted in this state. After completing the mounting or dismounting, the bay device 32 left on the connectors 72A and 72B is detected and brought into a usable state by carrying out predetermined setting to a master, a slave or the like. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superior information processing terminal which is increased in the reliability of a cable passing through the coupling part between a 1st and a 2nd housing and can mount a highly-functional keyboard on the 1st housing by providing the 1st housing which has a form factor determined by PCMCIA/JEIDA and a 2nd housing which is coupled rotatably with the 1st housing. SOLUTION: The information processing terminal 100 consists of the 1st housing 10 which is relatively thin and the 2nd housing 20 which is relatively thick and they are supported rotatably on a hinge. The 1st housing 10 has the form factor determined by PCMCIA/JEIDA and has a PCMCIA connector 11 for connection with an external computer system. The 2nd housing 20, on the other hand, contains almost all of components actualizing a PDA function and a PHS function and is fitted with a liquid crystal display 21, a speaker 22, and an antenna 23.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method that can access a Web site and acquire information from the Web site at high speed and with high reliability. SOLUTION: A content provider receives contents provided by content clients 101 to 103 as clients for providing contents, delivers the contents from a delivery source server 105 to Internet servers 116 to 119 of a plurality of Internet service providers, and stores them in free spaces. The Internet servers 116 to 119 each functions as a mirror server for providing the contents. Access to contents from a terminal 121 of a user is made to the mirror server operated by the Internet server 116, which then provides the user with the contents. In the method, the provision of contents is not via IX lines connecting the providers together (lines called a backbone to Internet exchange points). Abstract:
PURPOSE: To secure the safety of power supply to a PC card mounted to the slot of a personal computer. CONSTITUTION: This mechanism is provided with a register part 23 for tentatively holding a part of data to be exchanged in an interface part for exchanging data with the input/output bus 10 of an information processor, a driver part 25 for sending out signals to an input/output device, a power source management part 30 for performing the connection/disconnection operations of a power line for connecting the input/output device and a power source corresponding to contents written in the register part 23 and a detection means 40 for detecting an overcurrent on the power line. The register part 23 can write a detected result and the driver part 25 can turn OFF its own output corresponding to the detected result. When abnormality is detected in the power supply to the PC card 60, the detected result is also reported to a PC main body side. Also, when the abnormality is detected in the power supply to the PC card 60, the output of the driver part 25 for sending out the signals to the PC card 60 is stopped.
