Abstract: For equalizing the signal delay times of semiconductor chips a digital control circuit is provided on each chip. By altering the supply voltage, the digital control circuit influences the signal delay times. The digital control circuit comprises a comparator circuit where the signal delay of a clock pulse is compared in a chain of inverters with the very precisely defined clock interval. Depending on the result of the comparison, the count of an up-down counter is incremented or decremented by one. The resulting count is decoded and converted into a corresponding voltage for operating the circuits of the semiconductor chip. Subsequently, the above described steps are repeated until the difference DELTA t between the arrival of a clock pulse delayed by the chain, and the following undelayed clock pulse approaches zero.

Abstract: 1471272 Electric motors INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP 17 June 1975 [13 July 1974] 25692/75 Heading H2A An electric stepping motor comprises a rotor 1 having a conical portion co-operating with complementary stator pole faces, the cone angle being at least 15 degrees. The toothed conical rotor of the inductor type stepping motor shown is magnetized by a coil 7 and interacts with the toothed faces of four stator poles 3. The rotor may be hollow, Fig. 8 (not shown). In a modification, Fig. 9 (not shown), having a permanent magnet rotor comprising two conical portions placed base-to-base, the two conical surfaces are of opposite polarity and interact with respective groups of stator poles. Either the rotor teeth or the stator teeth of the two halves of the motor may be angularly staggered. An inductor type motor may also be designed to have two conical rotor portions.
