PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition and method for detecting an Ehrlichia (Ehrlichia canis and Ehrlichia chaffeensis) antibody and an antibody fragment. SOLUTION: The composition containing an isolated polypeptide selected from the polypeptide group consisting of a specific amino sequence is provided. The method for detecting the antibody to Ehrlichia that includes bringing the polypeptide into contact with a test sample suspected to contain the antibody to Ehrlichia under the condition that a polypeptide/antibody complex be formed is provided.
