Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically discover and classify event data within noise, and to quantitatively deduce a relative frequency of a population in multidimensional data set such as, for example, a frequency of WBC type in a prescribed blood sample of human being or an animal. SOLUTION: The present invention is a system and a method for identifying the population of events in the multidimensional data set, such as seven-dimensional flow-sight-metric data of a blood sample, for example, a set of data or a cluster expressing different leukocyte components in the sample. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automated system and method for calibrating a diagnostic apparatus such as a hematological analyzer in real time.SOLUTION: A method for tracking the stability and performance of a diagnostic apparatus, especially an automated animal hematological analyzer applies a weighted moving average algorithm to a diagnostic result of a patient's sample calculated by the analyzer. For determining whether the weighted average diagnosis result is within a limit, within a range, or out of the range, a control chart rule is used for setting the limit or the range. If the weighted average diagnosis result is out of the limit of the control chart rule, a fuzzy logic and gradient descent algorithm are applied to the weighted average diagnosis result.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for determining the presence and quantity of biomaterial, specimen or microorganism in a sample and provide an apparatus therefor. SOLUTION: This process contains (if necessary) a step to liquefy a sample and a step to distribute the liquefied sample on the surface of an analyzing apparatus. The apparatus may contain an incubation plate 10, a dip stick or other device. The apparatus holds at least one reagent supplied to the apparatus. Some apparatuses have a nearly flat horizontal surface divided into plural concave wells. The excess liquid of the liquefied sample is discharged from the surface of the apparatus. This process contains a step to incubate the analyzing apparatus until the presence or the quantity of the biomaterial, specimen or microorganism is determined.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting FIV(lentivirus) infection in cats and also to provide a polypeptide capable of being used for that purpose. SOLUTION: The detection of FIV infection in cats is conducted by detecting the specific antibody against FIV in cat blood serum or the like. First of all a peptide having antigenicity in FIV is prepared and then is brought into contact with cat blood serum or the like. Based on the formation of an immunocomplex due to the contact, the existence of an antibody and FIV infection can be detected. A glycoprotein in viral envelope protein (e.g. gp 40) or the like can be used as FIV peptide.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for diagnosing the presence of a feline immune deficiency. SOLUTION: In this method for deciding whether a feline is infected by a feline immunodeficiency virus(FIV), a biological sample of the feline is given, the sample is brought into contact with an antibody binding capture composition containing (i) a first enhanced capture polypeptide containing an immunogeneic fragment of an FIVgag precursor p55 and (ii) a second enhanced capture polypeptide containing an immunogeneic fragment of an FIVenv precursor gp130, and the reaction of the antibody in the sample is detected by using the capture composition. Here, the generation of the reaction represents that the feline is infected with the FIV.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retaining clip that retains one or more test slides in one arrangement where they are stacked, and minimizes the contamination of the test slides. SOLUTION: The retaining clip for retaining reagent test slides in a stacked arrangement is formed as a unitary member and includes first, second and third plates, each having an inner surface and an outer surface. The inner surface of the first plate pivots towards the inner surface of the second plate, and the inner surface of the third plate also pivots such that the inner surfaces of the first and third plates at least partially face each other upon pivoting. The inner surfaces of the first and third plates are separated by a distance to accommodate the reagent test slides in the stacked arrangement. Alternatively, the third and second plates can be fixed rigidly to each other with only the first plate pivoting to at least partially face the third plate. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition and method for detecting an Ehrlichia (Ehrlichia canis and Ehrlichia chaffeensis) antibody and an antibody fragment. SOLUTION: The composition containing an isolated polypeptide selected from the polypeptide group consisting of a specific amino sequence is provided. The method for detecting the antibody to Ehrlichia that includes bringing the polypeptide into contact with a test sample suspected to contain the antibody to Ehrlichia under the condition that a polypeptide/antibody complex be formed is provided.
