    Abstract: A method and apparatus for correcting the phase and gain of data associated with a constellation pattern of a plurality of received individual symbols. Each symbol is divided into real and imaginary symbol components. The signs of the real and imaginary symbol components of each symbol are determined and used as a basis for determining wheiher the symbol is associated with a or third quadrant of the constellation pattern or a second or fourth quadrant of the constellation pattern. The absolute values of the real and imaginary symbol components are determined and used to create a first sum and a second sum. A phase adjustment value ¸ and a gain adjustment value G are derived from the first and second sums, and are used to create a complex number. Each of the received individual symbols is multiplied by the created complex number to provide corrected constellation pattern data.

    Abstract: Detecting, avoiding and/or correcting problematic puncturing patterns in parity bit streams used when implementing punctured Turbo codes is achieved without having to avoid desirable code rates. This enables identification/avoidance of regions of relatively poor Turbo code performance. Forward error correction comprising Turbo coding and puncturing achieves a smooth functional relationship between any measure of performance and the effective coding rate resulting from combining the lower rate code generated by the Turbo encoder (600) with puncturing of the parity bits. In one embodiment, methods to correct/avoid degradations due to Turbo coding are implemented by puncturing interactions when two or more stages of rate matching (610, 620) are employed.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for adaptively biasing a channel quality indicator (CQI) used for setting a configuration of communication between a transmitter and a receiver in a wireless communication system. The receiver sends a CQI and positive acknowledgement (ACK)/negative acknowledgement (NACK) messages to the transmitter. The ACK/NACK messages indicate the absence or presence of error, respectively, in a transmitted data packet. The CQI is derived from the signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) and the ACK/NACK messages. The transmitter calculates the block error rate (BLER) of the transmitted data packets based upon the ACK/NACK messages sent from the receiver. The transmitter compares the BLER of the transmitted data packets to a target BLER and biases the CQI based on the comparison in order to achieve the target BLER.

    Abstract: A method for multicasting a packet begins by providing a buffer for each of two user equipments (UEs) in communication with a base station. A determination is made whether there is a previously unsent packet at the base station. A second determination is made whether both UE buffers are non-empty. A non-empty buffer is flushed if there is no previously unsent packet and if one of the buffers is non-empty. A packet is selected to be transmitted if there is a previously unsent packet or if both buffers are non-empty. The buffers are updated based on feedback received from the UEs.

    Abstract: Se describen un método y un aparato para llevar a cabo comunicaciones inalámbricas multiple entrada multiple salida (MIMO). Un nodo B puede recibir un índice para una matriz precodificadora en un manual de codigos de precodificacion MIMO de unico usuario (SU-MIMO), proveniente de unidades de transmision/recepcion inalámbricas (WTRU) y, en forma adaptativa, llevar a cabo SU-MIMO o MIMO de multiples usuarios (MU-MIMO), besándose en un criterio predeterminado. La informacion sobre el canal para llevar a cabo MU-MIMO puede obtenerse basándose en la matriz precodificadora del manual de codigos de precodificacion de SU-MIMO. Es posible invalidar un rango solicitado por la WTRU, si el manual de codigos MU-MIMO unitario es un subconjunto del manual de codigos precodificacion de SU-MIMO. En caso contrario, se puede seleccionar una matriz precodificadora de MU-MIMO que tenga la mayor correlacion posible respecto de la matriz precodificadora. Una WTRU puede enviar una matriz precodificadora para la transmision a la WTRU, junto con una matriz de interferencia preferida. Una WTRU puede enviar informacion de rangos y multiple vectores singulares de la derecha para MU-MIMO.
