    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide elevator equipment which can save space by arranging a driving device in an elevator shaft, and which is easy to access. SOLUTION: An elevator cage 2 and a counter weight 3 are driven by a driving device installed in an elevator shaft 1 through a cable 5. A carrier yoke 9 are arranged at upper ends of first and second guide members 6, 7. The cable is fixed at its one end to a first point 10 while at the other end to a second point 11 of a third guide member 8. In mounting and maintenance/ reparing, the driving device 4 can turn in the shaft 1 through a rotating mechanism arranged in the carrier yoke 9.

SOLUTION: An elevator car 10 is supported by at least one suspension rope 14 to be driven by a driving device 19. The driving device 19 contains a drive motor 21 and a rope sheave 20 driven by the drive motor 21. The suspension rope 14 passes through the rope sheave 20. The drive device 19 is positioned at the upper part of a hoistway 11 and is protruded at least above a part of the elevator car 10.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To start moving an elevator comfortably without being accompanied by sudden impact using the simplest structure as much as possible. SOLUTION: Areas 23 and 24 having smaller bending resistance are formed in brake levers 2 and 3 so as to be elastically deformed by means of a torque action. Elastic deformation is detected by strain gauge strips R1 through R4 disposed in the aforesaid areas so as to be connected therewith as a measurement bridge, and the obtained voltage signal is forwarded to an elevator control device so as to be processed for letting a basic signal be produced. Motor torque for compensating measured torque is generated by a driving motor by way of a driving control device before the brake is released, as a result, torque obtained by the braking shaft is turned out zero. As a result, even if the brake is released, torque will never be abruptly changed, and it thereby starts operating without being accompanied by abrupt impact.
