An example apparatus disclosed herein is to reserve a probe on a compute device in a cluster of compute devices based on a request to satisfy a resource availability criterion associated with a resource of the cluster, apply a risk mitigation operation based on the resource availability criterion before deployment of a workload to the cluster, and monitor whether the criterion is satisfied based on data from the probe after deployment of the workload to the cluster.

Abstract: Techniques for detection and handling of virtual appliance failures. In one aspect, a method is implemented on a host platform on which a hypervisor (aka Virtual Machine Manager) and a plurality of virtual machines (VMs) are running, the plurality of VMs collectively hosting a plurality of Software Defined Networking (SDN) and/or Network Function Virtualization (NFV) appliances that are communicatively coupled via a virtual network. A software-based entity running on the host platform is configured to monitor the plurality of virtual network appliances to detect failures of the virtual network appliances. In response to detection of a virtual network appliance failure, messages containing configuration information are implemented to reconfigure packet flows to bypass the virtual network appliance that has failed.

An example apparatus includes interface circuitry to access a service request intercepted by from an infrastructure processing unit, the service request corresponding to a first node; instructions in the apparatus; and infrastructure sidecar circuitry to execute the instructions to: identify an active service instance corresponding to the service request; compare first telemetry data corresponding to the active service instance to a service quality metric; select a second node to service the service request based on the comparison and further telemetry data; and cause transmission of the service request to the second node.

A policy processor is to evaluate the first metric to determine whether to change the map to remap at least one of the first and second logical cores relative to the second one of the first and the second physical cores to move a process between the first and second physical cores to adjust the property, the moving of the process between the physical cores being transparent to an application/OS layer. A mapping controller is responsive to the policy processor to change the map.

Abstract: Various systems and methods for implementing intent-based orchestration in heterogenous compute platforms are described herein. An orchestration system is configured to: receive, at the orchestration system, a workload request for a workload, the workload request including an intent-based service level objective (SLO); generate rules for resource allocation based on the workload request; generate a deployment plan using the rules for resource allocation and the intent-based SLO; deploy the workload using the deployment plan; monitor performance of the workload using real-time telemetry; and modify the rules for resource allocation and the deployment plan based on the real-time telemetry.
