Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small piece of a polyester resin foam which is formed into moldings of foam pieces with good biodegradability revealing itself upto the interior of the moldings as well as the moldings of foam pieces. SOLUTION: The small pieces of a polyester resin foam are characterized in that the polyester resin containing at least 60 mol.% aliphatic ester component in the main chain is a base material resin and the ratio (Dt/Db) of the true density Dt (g/cm3) to the bulk density Db (g/cm3) is 1.7-3 and the average weight of one small piece of the foam is 1-10 mg and further, the bulk density Db (g/cm3) is 0.008-0.035 g/cm3. The moldings of the small pieces of the polyester resin foam having communicating spaces are obtained by filling a molding die with the small pieces of the polyester resin foam and thermally molding the small pieces.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyolefin resin composition suited in producing polyolefin resin foamed molded products having improved mechanical properties, particularly rigidity, and a foamed molded product having excellent rigidity and dimension precision to be obtained by foaming polyolefin foaming particles in a mold. SOLUTION: The polyolefin resin composition comprises a polyolefin resin containing a modified polyolefin having a functional group in the molecule and 1-15 wt.% inorganic substance having a scaly or lamellar structure having been subjected to the treatment of rendering the inorganic substance organic. The molded product to be obtained by subjecting foaming particles obtainable from the above polyolefin resin composition to foaming in a mold improves the compressive strength at 50% strain compared to the foamed product having the same expansion ratio to be obtained from the conventional foaming particles and, e.g. a molded product having an apparent density of 30 g/L improves the compressive strength by about 9% and a molded product having an apparent density of 24 g/L improves the compressive strength by about 24%. Foaming particles to be obtained from the above polyolefin based resin composition for foaming has a small variation in LR/DR and good stability of filling into a mold.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite lightweight body, particularly, a large-sized composite lightweight body wherein any expandable beads-melt loss portion does not exist in the inside thereof. SOLUTION: This composite lightweight body comprises a plurality of expandable beads integrally combined with an unsaturated polyester resin cured product wherein the body has a density of 0.1 to 0.6 g/cm3 and a volume of not smaller than 1,000 cm3 and such a size as to permit a plate having a size of 100 mm in length, 100 mm in width and 30 mm in thickness to be cut out. The composite lightweight body has a ratio between specific gravity (A) in the vicinity of the center thereof and specific gravity (B) at the peripheral portion thereof of A/B=0.7 to 1.3.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a foamed polypropylene resin molding with its surface capable of lamination with or bonding to a skinning material by pressure- molding foamed resin particles obtained by foaming a polypropylene random copolymer. SOLUTION: A base resin is obtained which has a melting point of 140 deg.C or above and comprising a polypropylene random copolymer obtained by copolymerizing propylene with 0.05-10.0 wt.% comonomer selected from ethylene and a 4C or higher α-olefin. Foamed resin particles obtained by foaming this resin are packed into a mold and foamed by heating to obtain a molding having a difference of at least 5 J/g between the heat quantity in an endothermic peak in the first DSC curve (an endothermic peak in a DSC curve as obtained when 2-4 mg of a sample of the foamed molding is first heated to 220 deg.C at a rate of temperature rise of 10 deg.C/min on a differential scanning calorimeter) and the heat quantity in an endothermic curve in the second DSC curve (an endothermic peak as obtained when the molding heated to 220 deg.C is cooled to 40 deg.C at a rate of temperature fall of 10 deg.C/min and heated again to 220 deg.C).

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain foamed particles inexpensively that can give a molded product excellent in laminate adhesion, impact strength, etc., by blending a polyolefin resin with a styrene/diene copolymer and a polymeric fluidizing agent, followed by granulating, cross-linking, and foaming. SOLUTION: (A) A polyolefin resin (e.g. a polypropylene) is blended with (B) a styrene/diene copolymer (e.g. a styrene/butadiene random copolymer), and (C) a polymeric fluidizing agent (e.g. liquid paraffin). Letting the total of the components (A), (B) and (C) be 100wt.%, suitably the blending ratio is such that the ratio of the component (A) is at least 50wt.%, the ratio of the component (B) is 5 to 49wt.%, and the ratio of the component (C) is 1 to 15wt.%. The obtained mixed resin is pelletized, cross-linked, and foamed to obtain foamed particles wherein after refluxed in boiled toluene for 5 hours, the amount of insolubles is 3 to 70wt.%. The foamed particles are molded in a mold and the resulting in-mold molded product and a fiber-reinforced thermosetting resin are laminated to obtain the objective laminate useful for bathtubs, cleansing tanks, etc.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To improve air permeability and flexibility of a cushion material by forming a foamed body having voids communicating at a designated percentage of void out of deformed polyolefine resin foam particles, and setting the compressive strength to a designated value. CONSTITUTION: A foamed body having voids communicating at the percentage of void of 10% or more is formed out of deformed polyolefine resin foam particles 1. The respective foam particles 1 have a hollow hole P, and have projections (e) according to the sphere. In order to obtain flexibility required as a cushion material, the 40% compressive strength of the foamed body is set to 0.5kgf/cm or less. To be preferable, it is 0.4kgf/cm or less. The compressive strength is given to the cushion material, whereby in the case where the compressive stress applied to the cushion material is comparatively small, it is possible to obtain cushioning performance like soft or semi-hard urethane foam.
