A method of producing a liquid crystal alignment layer comprising exposing an organic film to polarized pulse laser beam to align molecules in a surface portion of the organic film. There is provided a liquid crystal alignment layer composed of a polyamide film having aligned molecules in a surface portion.

An object of the invention is to provide a polishing pad having the excellent slurry retaining properties and the large removal rate and a composition for a polishing pad which can form such the polishing pad. A composition for polishing pad of the invention is comprising a water-insoluble matrix material containing a crosslinked polymer and a water-soluble particle dispersed in the water-insoluble matrix material. The elongation remaining after breaking is 100% or smaller when a test piece comprising the water-insoluble matrix material is broken at 80 DEG C according to JIS K 6251. A polishing pad of the invention is that at least a part of the polishing pad comprises the composition for polishing pad.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter for biochips which will not contaminate filters, cause clogging, or lower product values as filters due to the generation of irregularities in its surface due to dicing nor deteriorate the yields, and which can reduce cost, and to provide a method for manufacturing the same and a biochip that uses the same. SOLUTION: The filter for biochips is provided with the filter body which constitutes a substrate part; a well which forms a recession part provided for the filter body; and a filter which constitutes the bottom surface of the well and in which a plurality of through pores are formed. SOLUTION: The carrier polymer particle comprises an organic polymer particle having a particle size of 0.1-15 μm and a sugar coating the surface of the organic polymer particle, wherein the polymer particle is chemically bound to the sugar, the sugar is a polysaccharide which is carboxymethylated, the chemical linkage contains at least one of an amide linkage and an ester linkage, the organic polymer particle contains the 1st functional group and the sugar contains the 2nd functional group and the polymer particle is bound to the sugar by reacting the 1st functional group with the 2nd functional group.
