    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition useful in a hygienic field, such as a sanitary product, a paper diaper or the like, a medical, a food industrial and an agricultural fields by mixing a highly water-absorbing resin with an organic functional material or the like, under a steam atmosphere. SOLUTION: This highly water-absorbing resin composition is obtained by mixing a highly water-soluble resin (e.g.; a crosslinked polyacrylic acid salt) with an organic functional material and/or an inorganic functional material under a steam atmosphere. As the highly water-absorbing resin, a dried powder and those containing water and/or an organic solvent are preferable. As the organic function material, at least one or more kinds selected from a surfactant and/or a highly polymeric compound, a radical chain inhibitor, a metal chelating agent and a reducing agent are preferable. As the inorganic functional material, one or more kinds selected from a reducing material, a metal chelating agent, a deodoring agent and a flow property improving agent are preferable. A supply pressure of the steam is preferably 100-1,000 kPa.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent adhesion within a reaction tank in a case used in suspension reaction, especially, suspension polymerization and to simply perform the repairing thereof on the spot by covering a stirring blade with a fluoroplastic shrink tube. SOLUTION: A stirring blade 2 is covered with a fluoroplastic shrink tube 1. The shrink tube 1 has a characteristic shrinking from an initial state by a temp. change and a heat shrinkable tube is pref. As a method for covering the shrink tube, a known method, for example, a method inserting the stirring blade into the shrink tube and subsequently spraying hot air on the shrink tube from the periphery thereof or a method inserting the stirring blade into the shrink tube and subsequently injecting a liquid into the shrink tube by a polymerization reaction apparatus to raise the temp. thereof is employed. By using this reaction apparatus, the adhesion of a polymer can be suppressed. Further, when the deterioration of the fluoroplastic shrink tube is confirmed, the fluoroplastic shrink tube can be simply replaced on the spot.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To easily and efficiently form a fine liquid droplet with a specific means liquid droplet size by a simple device by emitting a liquid becoming a dispersion phase into a gaseous phase from a straight nozzle at flow velocity such that the Re number at the outlet part of a nozzle becomes a specific value to mix the same with a continuous phase. CONSTITUTION:In a method wherein a fine liquid droplet being a dispersion phase 1 is formed within a continuous phase not substantially dissolved in the dispersion phase 1, the liquid becoming the dispersion phase is emitted into a gaseous phase from a straight nozzle 3 at flow velocity such that the Re number at a nozzle outlet part becomes 200-300,000 to be mixed with the continuous phase 4. Or, the liquid becoming the dispersion phase 1 is emitted from the straight nozzle 3 immersed in the continuous phase 4 at the same flow velocity to be mixed with the continuous phase 4. As a result, a fine liquid droplet with a mean liquid droplet size of 10-300mum can be easily and efficiently obtained by a simple device. Further, liquid droplet size distribution is also sharp and this capacity is not changed after scaling-up.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain fine polymer particles with a uniform particle diameter in a high yield and to heighten the efficiency of the whole process, by reducing the droplet diameters of an emulsified monomer to values smaller than those attained by the conventional technique to thereby improve the stability of the emulsion and make the monomer more apt to be absorbed into seed polymer particles. CONSTITUTION:The title production process comprises causing an oil-soluble ethylenic monomer (a) and a nonionic organic compound (b) to be absorbed into seed polymer particles (c) dispersed in an aqueous dispersion medium (d) and then polymerizing the monomer in the presence of an oil-soluble polymerization initiator. A device is used in this process to collide a pressurized liquid mixture of the monomer (a), the compound (b), and the medium (d) with itself or with a pressurized liquid mixture of the particles (c) and the medium (d) to thereby disperse the ingredients and emulsify the monomer (a). The resulting ingredients are mixed and the monomer (a) is then polymerized.
