Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a sebum-resistant powder which is excellent in capability of solidifying sebum and gives cosmetics with excellent sebum control effects and a good makeup retention by treating fine zinc oxide particles having a specified specific surface area with a specific polymer. CONSTITUTION:A sebum-resistant powder is obtd. by treating the surfaces of fine zinc oxide particles having a specific surface area of 15-100m /g with a methylhydrogensiloxane-dimethylsiloxane copolymer represented by the formula [wherein m:n is (0.6:1)-(1.4:1), and m+n is 20-60]. The amt. of the copolymer used is pref. 1-20wt.% of the particles used. The surface treatment is done e.g. by mixing the particles with the copolymer and heating the mixture at 50-200 deg.C for 0.5-5hr. A solvent can be used if necessary at the mixing step.
