    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a compsn. providing a foam having uniform and fine cells and excellent mechanical characteristics, cold resistance and oil resistance by reacting an isocyanate compd. with a compd. having a plurality of active hydrogen. groups by dispersing a heat-decomposable foaming agent therein. CONSTITUTION:The title resin compsn. comprises a thermoplastic polyurethane resin obtd. by dispersing in advance a heat-decomposable foaming agent having a decompsn. temp. of 120-220 deg.C in an isocyanate compd. (A) or/and a compd. (B) having at least two or more active hydrogen groups reactive with the isocyanate group and reacting the compd. A with the compd. B. When a heat- decomposable foaming agent having a decompsn. temp. below 120 deg.C is used, gas generation occurs before the thermoplastic resin is melted, so that no foaming occurs or vigorous gas leakage due to gas generation in an early stage causes a decrease in the foaming ratio. When the decompsn. temp. exceeds 220 deg.C, part of the foaming agent remains undecomposed and the foaming ratio is not increased.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an additive which can give a polyurethane improved in hydrolysis resistance by using a specified quat. ammonium compound as an essential component. CONSTITUTION:A tert. amine is reacted with a dialkyl sulfate in an amount equivalent to that of the amine in a solvent to obtain a quat. ammonium compound (A) of the formula (wherein R1 is 6-24 C alkyl; R2 and R2' are each H or 1-3 C alkyl; R is 1-3 C alkyl; and R is 1-12 C alkyl or 1-6 C alkoxy). Component A as an essential component is optionally mixed with a metal salt of an inorganic acid, selected from among alkali (alkaline earth) metal salts of perchloric acid, thiocyanic acid and nitric acid, in a ratio of (5-1):1 to obtain the title additive. A mixture of a compound having at least two active hydrogen atoms with an organic isocyanate is reacted in the presence of 0.05-10wt.% (in terms of component A), based on the mixture, above additive to obtain a polyurethane.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce the title foam having uniform fine cells and excellent mechanical properties, low-temperature resistance, oil resistance, etc., by expansion-molding a composition comprising a specified thermoplastic polyurethane resin and a specified heat-decomposable blowing agent. CONSTITUTION:A composition comprising 100 pts.wt. thermoplastic polyurethane resin formed from an isocyanate compound (e.g., tolylene diisocyanate) and a compound having at least two groups containing active hydrogen atoms reactive with the isocyanate groups (e.g., 1,4-butanediol) and a viscosity of 5X10 -1X10 P at the flow temperature and 0.05-5 pts.wt. heat-decomposable blowing agent of a decomposition temperature of 120-220 deg.C (e.g., azodicarbonamide) is expansion-molded by a usual thermal expansion molding process such as injection molding or extrusion molding. A thermoplastic polyurethane resin foam having uniform fine cells from which the generated gas does not escape and excelling in mechanical properties, low-temperature resistance, oil resistance, etc., can be obtained.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title composition which can give a foam having mechanical strengths equivalent to those of conventional ester-derived flexible urethane foams and excellent resistance to wet-heat deterioration, alkali and acid by condensing an organic dibasic acid with a specified diol and a triol. CONSTITUTION:A polyester polyol composition of a hydroxyl value of 30-120 KOHmg/g is obtained by condensing an organic dibasic acid (e.g. malonic acid) with a diol and a triol, wherein the diol is one having at least one methyl group and a prim. hydroxyl group in the molecule. This composition can give a foam having mechanical strengths equivalent to those of conventional ester- derived urethane foams and excellent resistance to wet-heat deterioration, alkali and acid.
