Abstract: PURPOSE:To stable obtain sulfonated substance having high quality by quickly measuring physical properties of sulfonated substance and rapidly adjusting charging amount in continuous sulfonation of organic aromatic compound with sulfur trioxide gas. CONSTITUTION:An organic aromatic compound is continuously sulfonated with sulfur trioxide gas. In said process, molecular weight of the organic aromatic compound as a raw material and acid value of a sulfonated substance as a reaction product are measured using a near infrared absorption spectrum analyzer at fixed time intervals, generally at intervals within 30min. Resultant measured value is put in a fixed calculating formula and flowing amount of the organic aromatic compound or the sulfur trioxide gas is automatically controlled using calculated value to perform reaction. The reaction condition is kept uniform without affected by variation owing to equipment constant or external disturbance.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To stably obtain a high-quality sulfated substance, by measuring acid value of a sulfated substance at a given interval using a near infrared absorption spectroscopic analyzer and automatically controlling the flow rate of a raw material in continuously sulfating an organic hydroxy compound. CONSTITUTION:(a) An organic hydroxy compound is continuously sulfated with (b) chlorosulfonic acid or (c) sulfur trioxide gas in a sulfating reactor 1 to produce a sulfate of the compound (a), such as alkyl sulfate or polyoxyethylene alkyl ester sulfate, useful as (d) detergents or shampoos. In the process, the acid value (AV) of the resultant sulfated substances (d) which is a reaction product or further hydroxyl value (OHV) of the raw material (a) is measured at an interval within 30min using a near infrared spectroscopic analyzer and the measured values are simultaneously used to automatically control the flow rate of the raw material (a), (b) or (c) using a prescribed operational equation with a flow control valve 3. Thereby fluctuation due to the apparatus constant or external disturbance is rapidly grasped and the aimed high-quality sulfated substance is stably obtained according to a correspondingly set manner.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To achieve an accurate absorption analysis of a liquid to be measured mixed with a gas, by pressurizing the liquid being measured to perform an absorption analysis under a specified pressure condition. CONSTITUTION:Pressure-proof valves 4 and 5 are opened to introduce a reaction liquid into a cell 1 for measurement from a piping 16, passed through a passage comprising a supply piping 6, a deliver piping 7 and a piping 16 to be replaced with an old sample reaction liquid in the cell 1 for measurement and then, a new sample reaction liquid is supplied. Then, the pressure proof valves 4 and 5 are closed while a pressure-proof value 12 is opened and a pressure air adjusted to a specified pressure with a pressure regulation valve 11 is introduced from an air introducing section 9 to pressurize the reaction liquid filled in the piping closed. In this manner, after the sample reaction liquid within the cell 1 for measurement is pressurized to a specified pressure, measurement in absorption analysis is performed maintaining this pressure condition.
