Paper bulking agents which make it possible to give bulky sheets without deteriorating the effects of sizing agents. These bulking agents contain an ester compound selected from among (A) fatty acid esters of polyhydric alcohols; and (B) fatty acid esters of polyhydric alcohols having 0 to 12 moles (exclusive) of C2-4 oxyalkylene group per mole of the ester compound, and having a melting point of 100 DEG C or below.

The present invention provides a paper quality improver for papermaking, which is excellent in efficiency of improving bulky value, brightness, opacity and the like of pulp sheet, wherein the improving is desirable at lightening paper and increasing amount of deinked pulp, if small amount of the paper quality improver is added; and provides a pulp sheet whose bulky value, brightness, opacity and the like are improved. Further, the present invention provides a dry efficiency improver and a drying method which are able to improve easily a dry efficiency of a wet paper and water-squeezed product. That is to say, in the present invention, a compound is used as the paper quality improver for papermaking, wherein the compound is led to have not less than 4% of lyotropic degree measured by a specific method and the compound satisfies at least two of any ones selected from (i) standard improved bulky value of not less than 0.02 g/cm3, (ii) standard improved brightness of not less than 0.5 point and (iii) standard improved opacity of not less than 0.5 point. That is to say, also, in the present invention, there is obtained the pulp sheet, whereby a compound being led to have not less than 4% of lyotropic degree measured by a specific method is added internally into pulp slurry before or in papermaking step, wherein the pulp sheet satisfies at least two of any ones selected from (1) improved bulky value of not less than 0.02 g/cm3, (2) improved brightness of not less than 0.5 point and (3) improved opacity of not less than 0.5 point. Further, the present invention is use, as a dry efficiency improver, of a compound being led to have not less than 4% of lyotropic degree measured by a specific method and satisfying at least one selected from (i) standard improved bulky value of not less than 0.02 g/cm3, (ii) standard improved brightness of not less than 0.5 point and (iii) standard improved opacity of not less than 0.5 point.

Uso de un compuesto como mejorador de la calidad del papel para la fabricación de papel, que se añade internamente antes de o en la etapa de fabricación de papel, en el que el compuesto tiene un grado liotrópico definido a continuación no inferior al 4%, grado liotrópico (%) = (alfa 0- alfa)/alfa 0 x 100 en el que alfa: el contenido en agua en una hoja húmeda obtenida añadiendo 5 partes en peso del compuesto que es el mejorador de la calidad del papel para la fabricación de papel a 100 partes en peso de pasta y sometiendo el producto resultante a la fabricación de papel; y alfa0: el contenido en agua en una hoja húmeda obtenida sometiendo la pasta a la fabricación de papel sin añadir el compuesto que es el mejorador de la calidad del papel para la fabricación de papel a la pasta; y el compuesto proporciona las siguientes eficacias que mejoran la calidad del papel (i) a (iii): (i) valor de voluminosidad mejorado convencional de al menos 0,02 g/cm 3 , (ii) brillo mejorado convencional de al menos 0,7 puntos, y (iii) opacidad mejorada convencional de al menos 0,7 puntos; y el compuesto es un compuesto orgánico que tiene un grupo hidrófilo para adherirse a una superficie de la pasta y un grupo hidrófobo para hacer que la superficie de la pasta sea hidrófoba; y en el que el compuesto se selecciona del grupo que consiste en (A) organosiloxano, (B) gliceril éter, (C) amida, (D) amina, (E) sal ácida de amina, (F) sal de amonio cuaternario, (G) imidazol, (H) éster de alcohol polihidroxilado y ácido graso y (I) éster de adición de óxido de alquileno que es un éster derivado de alcohol polihidroxilado y ácido graso y que tiene desde más de 0 moles hasta menos de 12 moles en promedio del grupo óxido de alquileno C2-4 por 1 mol del éster.

A paper bulking promoter containing a compound represented by the following formula (1) with which a highly bulky sheet can be obtained without impairing paper strength: RO(EO)m(PO)nH wherein R represents a linear or branched alkyl or alkenyl group having 6 to 22 carbon atoms or an alkylaryl group in which the alkyl group has 4 to 20 carbon atoms; E represents an ethylene group; P represents a propylene group; m indicates the average number of moles added in the range of 0≤m≤20; and n is a number in the range of 0≤n≤50; provided that the EO and PO groups may have any of block and random arrangements and may begin with any of EO and PO.
