Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for producing a toner for electrophotography which includes the step of fusing aggregated particles containing resin particles (A) and releasing agent particles in an aqueous mixed solution containing the aggregated particles and an anionic surfactant having a polyalkylene glycol moiety with an average molar number of addition of an alkylene oxide having 2 to 3 carbon atoms of from 5 to 100 after and/or while adjusting a pH value of the aqueous mixed solution to 2.0 to 6.0 as measured at 25°C, and a toner for electrophotography obtained by the process.

Abstract: Provided is a surfactant for emulsion polymerization, the surfactant providing a polymer emulsion which is highly stable during polymerization and ensures that a polymer coating film produced from the produced polymer emulsion has good properties and also providing a polymer emulsion having good mechanical stability and chemical stability and ensuring good water resistance of a polymer film. The invention provides a surfactant for emulsion polymerization, the surfactant comprising at least one type selected from unsaturated compounds having a pentenyl group to which an alkylene oxide is added and represented by the formula (I) , (II) or (VI). The invention also provides a method of producing a polymer emulsion, the method comprising performing emulsion polymerization using this surfactant composition. wherein A represents an alkylene group having 3 to 18 carbon atoms or an alkoxymethylethylene group (alkoxy group has 4 to 18 carbon atoms), EO represents an oxyethylene group, a denotes a number of 0 to 50, b denotes a number of 0 to 200 wherein a and b are not 0 at the same time and M represents a cation; wherein A'O represents an oxyalkylene group having 3 to 18 carbon atoms, E'O represents an oxyethylene group, m denotes a number of 0 to 50 and n denotes a number of 5 to 200, provided that the - (A' O) -groups m in number Ä-(A' O)m-Ü may be the same as or different from one another.

Abstract: A surfactant for emulsion polymerization which is satisfactory in polymer emulsion stability during polymerization and gives a polymer emulsion which gives a polymer film having satisfactory material properties. The surfactant gives a polymer emulsion which is satisfactory in mechanical stability and chemical stability and which gives a polymer film having satisfactory water resistance. Also provided is a process for producing a polymer emulsion which comprises conducting emulsion polymerization with this surfactant composition. (I) (II) [In the formulae, A represents C3-18 alkylene or alkoxymethylethylene (the alkoxy group has 4 to 18 carbon atoms); EO represents oxyethylene; a is a number of 0 to 50 and b is a number of 0 to 200, provided that not both of a and b are 0; and M represents a cation.] (VI) [In the formula (VI), A'O represents C3-18 oxyalkylene; E'O represents oxyethylene; m is a number of 0 to 50; n is a number of 5 to 200; and the m -(A'O)- groups may be the same or different.]
