    Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce a highly water-absorbing polymer in high production efficiency, preventing the deposition of polymer particles in a reactor, by continuously carrying out polymerization reaction, control of water-content and crosslinking steps in individual reactors. CONSTITUTION:The objective highly water-absorbing polymer can be produced by continuously carrying out the following stage using one or more reactors for each stop. (1) A step to produce a slurry containing polymer phase by dissolving a water-soluble vinyl monomer (e.g. acrylic acid and itaconic acid) and a water-soluble polymerization initiator (e.g. potassium persulfate and sodium persulfate) in water, suspending the obtained aqueous solution in a hydrocarbon (e.g. n-pentane and cyclohexane) and subjecting the dispersion to suspension polymerization. (2) A step to remove water in the polymer phase of the slurry together with the hydrocarbon from the system. (3) A step to add a water-soluble crosslinking agent to the slurry containing the polymer phase and carry out crosslinking reaction in the polymer phase.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a film having film strength and chemical resistance as a packaging material, soluble in cold water, comprising a polyvinyl alcohol-based polymer prepared by saponifying a copolymer having vinyl acetate and itaconic acid as essential monomer units. CONSTITUTION:A copolymer comprising 2-8mol% itaconic acid, 88-98mol% vinyl alcohol and 0-4mol% vinyl acetate is saponified to give a polyvinyl alcohol-based polymer having 10-45cPs viscosity at 4% aqueous solution, which is optionally blended with 5-20 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of the polymer of a plasticizer (preferably polyhydric plasticizer) and a surfactant (preferably nonionic surfactant having 7-20 HLB), molded into a film having 10-100mu preferably 20-50mu thickness by casting method and preferably embossed to give a film. A solid detergent is packaged with the film to give a packaged solid detergent.

CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution of a water-soluble vinyl monomer (e.g., acrylamide) 1 except alpha,beta-unsaturated carboxylic acid monomers and a reductive sulfur-containing oxyacid salt (e.g., sodium hydrogensulfite) 3 is supplied into a reaction cylinder 10 comprising a (double)cylinder from an inlet 12. Simultaneously, an oxygen-containing gas 2 as a parallel flow to the aqueous solution is supplied into the reaction cylinder 10 from an inlet 11 to form a thin film flow of the aqueous monomer solution on the inner wall of the reaction cylinder 10 by a stream of the gas 2 to react. Then, the resulting (co)polymer of the water-soluble vinyl monomer is separated in a gas/liquid separation cooling part 4, cooled, and removed via an aging part 5 and a pH control part 6.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polymer of a narrow MW distribution and less coloration, by concurrently feeding an alpha,beta-unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer, etc., and an inert gas to one end of a reaction pipe to thereby form a stream of a thin film of the monomer on the inside wall of the pipe and reacting the monomer. CONSTITUTION:A monomer essentially consisting of an alpha,beta-unsaturated carboxylic acid (salt) (e.g., acrylic acid), previously prepared in a preparation part 1, is mixed with components which are necessary for the reaction (e.g., sodium hydrogensulfite) and are fed from a feed part 3, and the mixture is fed to a reaction pipe 10 comprising a pipe or a double pipe from its entrance 12. An inert gas, air or an oxygen gas 2 diluted with an inert gas is fed to the reaction pipe 10 from an entrance 11, and a stream of a thin film of the monomer is formed on the inside wall of the reaction pipe 10 by a stream of the gas while it is reacted. The reaction product is withdrawn from the top of the reaction pipe 10 and separated by cooling in a gas/liquid separation part 4 to obtain the purpose carboxylic acid polymer.

The liner is ultrasonically welded to the inner side of the container and a magnetic disk is housed therein, by which a disk cartridge is obtd.
