Abstract: PURPOSE:A cosmetic having good spread in use, comprising an alpha-mono(methyl branched alkyl)glyceryl ether as an emulsifying agent and water-insoluble inorganic or organic powder. CONSTITUTION:A cosmetic comprising 0.1-10wt% based on total composition of a compound shown by the formula (m is an integer of 2'14; n is an integer of 3- 11, m+n is 9-21) and 0.1-20wt% based on total composition of water-insoluble inorganic or organic powder (e.g., talc, titanium oxide, bentonite, silk powder, nylon powder). The compound shown by the formula is liquid at room temperature, chemically stable, has improved emulsifying properties and no stimulation to the skin, and suitable as an emulsifying agent for a cosmetic. The blend of the compound with the powder gives a cosmetic having good spread free from defects. The compound shown by the formula is preferably used as a W/O type emulsifying agent together with a metal salt of 10-22C fatty acid and an inorganic salt or organic salt.

In the formulae I, II, lambda is a prescribed wavelength, Nor is the refractive index of a thin film formed with the polymer or oil 1, Nair is the refractive index of air, Nce is the refractive index of the filler 2, d1 is the thickness of the polymer or oil 1 on the filler 2, d2 is the diameter of the filler 2 and m=1-4.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare the titled composition giving an excellent emulsion by dilution with water, and having a synergistically increased effect for controlling blight and noxious insect of fruit trees and green vegetables, by mixing a sorbitan fatty acid ester and machine oil. CONSTITUTION:A composition for controlling agricultural and horticultural blight and noxious insect, containing (A) about 10-80wt% of a 8-20C fatty acid ester of sorbitan, e.g. sorbitan monolaurate, (B) about 10-80wt% of machine oil such as summer machine oil, winter machine oil, etc. (provided that the sum of the active components, i.e. (A)+(B), is >= about 50wt%), and (C) about 5-20wt% of an emulsifier comprising an anionic surface active agent and optionally a polyoxyalkylene nonionic surface active agent. The composition may contain 5-30wt% of a solvent such as isobutyl alcohol, butyl cellosolve, etc. The composition is sprayed to fruits or vegetables such as strawberry, kidney beans, eggplant, etc. to control the blight and noxious insect such as powdery mildew, spider mite, etc.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a beauty wash containing a derivative of a hydrolytically, oxidatively or reducively decomposed keratin substance at the thiol group, having excellent moisture-retaining effect and skin-protecting effect, free from sticky feeling, etc., and giving comfortable feeling to the skin. CONSTITUTION:The titled cosmetic (beauty wash) contains 0.1-10wt% derivative of decomposed keratin substance. The derivative of decomposed keratin substance is selected from the derivative at the thiol group (e.g. -SCH2COOH, -SCH2CH2SO3H. etc.) of keratin substance decomposed by hydrolysis (preferably having a molecular weight of 200-5,000), oxidation or reduction. When the beauty wash containing said derivative is used as an astringent beauty wash, it exhibits excellent moisture-retaining effect in addition to the properties of the base cosmetic, and when it is used as an emollient beauty wash, the sticky feeling and the rough feeling, which are inevitable defects of the conventional moisture retainer, are eliminated, and excellent moisture-retaining property can be attained. The keratin substance is preferably wool, etc.

Abstract: PURPOSE:The titled tablet that contains a specific amount of a benzalkonium halide, an alkali metal hydrogen carbonate and monoalkali metal phosphate as a foaming agent, thus permitting the prompt and ready preparation of disinfectant solution with a certain concentration. CONSTITUTION:A disinfectant tablet is prepared using (a) 3-30wt%, preferably 5-20wt% of benzalkonium halide, (b) 20-40wt% of alkali metal hydorgen carbonate, (c) 40-70wt% of at least one selected from monoalkali metal phosphate, citric acid, tartaric acid and malic acid and (d) 0.5-4.0wt%, preferably 1.0- 3.0wt% of water as essential components. The tablet is stable under normal conditions and readily soluble in water, when thrown into water. The resultant solution shows high disinfectant activity, being used in a simple manner.
